Having lived in Cary, NC for at least 2 years, we have our fair share of great Indian restaurants. I was really curious to try the Indian food in Luzern Switzerland. We stayed at Hotel Des Alpes and it was a quick walk to Mirch Masala. We got the lunch buffet for around 15CHF. Which is not bad considering it is a buffet and we are in Switzerland. First of all, one of the things that always disappoint me in most Indian buffets is the lack of good vegetable dishes. Most times you just get either fried veggies or a cold salad. But this place had a big pot of flavorful veggies(not deep fried) that just tasted great and gets you your daily serving of veggies. Another great dish was the goat curry. Unlike a lot of the Indian buffets in NC, they actually put big chunks of meat in the curry, whereas where I live you find mostly bones. I highly recommend the goat curry. The place is small but cozy. Service was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.

Very impressed with the rich, fresh flavors. Everything tastes very fresh with high quality ingredients. I had panier tikka, chai, murgh tikka masala and a tandoori naan. The quality and taste is better than any Indian restaurant in Seattle and on par with Indian restaurants in London.

Good food, great service but a bit pricey for the food. Maybe because of location and there’s one more indian restaurant owned by same guy. Even the staff or cook might be shared :) don’t know for sure. We went their twice, the second time the service wasn’t that great, they goofed up the to-go order a bit and then due to lot more people coming in, their service rating went down. Otherwise a good indian food place to check out at least once.

Awesome place on a small strip of Indian food. It is a nice ambience to sit in the streets of Switzerland. The mango lassi was on point and great for a hot summer day. The butter chicken was also unique as it was cut into smaller pieces. You don’t typically see butter chicken cut into success small pieces but this allowed it to be cooked better and the overall taste with butter naan was great. Make sure you’re cautious of the water you order as you only get a 330ml bottle for 4 Swiss franks.

Food was good, but the service and attitude of the waiters felt like I was in a detention camp — This place would have gotten a 4 – 5 star for the food, but the staff is trying really hard to excel in poor customer service. Try another place if you’d like to enjoy your dinner and walk out feeling good…

Ate here while visiting Lucerne and were pleasantly surprised. I’m Pakistani and have pretty high standards for desi food so I was kind of thinking that this place would just serve bland Indian food for ghoray tourists. Ordered veggie biryani, chicken tikka masala, and palak paneer. Everything was really good and a very good size portion. Spent about thirty minutes talking to the cook who is from Pakistan. Really nice guy. He gave us some mango mouse to try and it was pretty good. Prices were pretty expensive(as is the case in all of Switzerland). Those three dishes, 2 mango lassi, and some naan set us back about $ 80USD. Ouch. All in all, a solid spot in Lucerne if you wanna get away from Swiss food.

Fabulous food ! We visited Lucerne in Switzerland and were craving for indian food. The service was exceptional and being from india, I can confidently say that their paneer makhni and chicken was authentic and absolutely delicious. Would definitely visit this place again. Highly recommended.

My husband always wants Indian food so we found ourselves scavenging for desi food again. And this place was an adventure to find(limited access for vehicles). The food was okay, service was bountiful but lacking quality, and the ambiance was tacky. We had the chicken tikka masala, daal makhani, and two garlic naan. This place is costly, and it isn’t fine dining… In my opinion, I would advise they invest in a decorator and spruce up the place to justify their pricing model. This establishment is in the cute old part of Lucerne, Switzerland, not a dive village in India.

We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and there is not shortage of great Indian and Pakistani restaurants in our area. So, when it comes to Indian food, we are quite experienced & picky diners. What I like about Mirch Masala is that the food was very well made and filling. But the curry portions were extremely small based on our normal standards in the Bay Area. They are about half the portion we normally see. But the prices were doubled compared to what we normally pay. But it’s Switzerland so everything should be expensive, so we relent. For the 4 of us, we ordered the Shish Kabab(Great taste and value), Chicken Tikka Masala(Very filling and tasty), lamb curry(nothing special), and 4 regular nan bread. Rice also was included with the dishes. That was just enough food for the 4 of us. The biggest bang for the buck is the Shish Kabab. The portion is good and price is great. Did I mention that this place is really expensive? If you’re looking for cheaper options, try the Indian restaurant next door. They offer specials at 10CHF which includes curry, bread, rice, and dessert. That’s really the biggest bang for the buck. We tried it and the food was really good so that may be a better option for some.

Amazing food. The very small dining room is surprising at first, then you see what’s in your plate and you’re not disappointed! Lots of vegetarian options. You can get away with appetizer, plate and drink for 30.-

I usually come for the lunch buffet, which costs a reasonable CHF15.-, and always leave feeling pleasantly full and happy from the delicious food here. They normally have a short row of different curries out, with at least one being a vegetarian option, and they are all quite good. They once had tandoori chicken, which was very yummy as well. I particularly like the crispy samosas(at least, I think they’re samosas). The buffet options do vary from day to day, so if you’re not sure you’ll like what’s offered at the buffet that day, you can always take a look and then decide. In my opinion, it’s pretty authentic Indian cuisine — this is, of course, compared to my knowledge of US Indian food, so take that with a grain of salt — and the service is friendly and attentive.
