Chabis-Chäs

This place is actually two establishment types. The first is a restaurant/​café inside the building on Poststrasse which has the usual Swiss bench style seating, with outside café-​style tables and chairs in the hallway nearby.
Not far outside in the street you can usually find the van which sells takeaway, sometimes with outside tables and chairs nearby especially during street events etc.
Drinks are fresh coffee with regional lemonades, ciders/​schoerle, beers and other concoctions from various bio and other sources throughout Switzerland (like Appenzell etc), I’m always looking for «Holunder».
My favourite is the CurryCarrot soup with cream, cheese etc. I could eat it all day, it’s so wholesome. (I suspect the Mom of the proprietor makes it), served with fresh bread. (I had some this lunchtime). For dessert they make wonderful muffins which go with tea/​coffee/​chai perfectly.
It seems quite popular at lunchtimes on Saturdays.
One quirk, the restrooms are only available with a key from the establishment, which seems unusual, I’m sure they have their reasons.
So, if you want TASTY home-​made style soup and muffins, with regional drink options, come here! Takeaway is also possible inside the restaurant when the truck isn’t open outside.
For a price indication, 2 large soups with generous bread basket, 2 drinks, a coffee-​crème and a large muffin ran to 36CHF eating in.
