Dr.med. Hans Stalder Klinik im Park

I always liked running but when I was diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis I stopped to ‘spare the joint’. The pain got worse over the years until walking a few hundred yards was more than I could tolerate. Finding Dr. Stalder was easy since he had already performed total hip replacement surgery on my high school Latin teacher, my aunt and my mother! I thought I knew what to expect, but the result of his skills and that of the staff at Klinik im Park surpassed my wildest expectations: I was walking without crutches in less than a month, started gentle jogging and yoga shortly thereafter and ran the 7mile/​11km Falmouth Road Race about 8 months after surgery in less than an hour! Now after a bit more than a year, I have to check my small scar to be certain about which side the replacement had been on!
Living in Los Angeles as a Swiss expatriate I only have US health insurance. But my out-​of-​network costs were cheaper than if I had done the surgery out-​of-​network in a hospital in LA! And I am convinced that patient care would not have been as good as here. Dr. Stalder’s approach seems to be to treat the patient rather than the illness. He knows everybody by name, even the people who clean the rooms, which makes everybody part of the team that treats the patient. If that appeals to you, go with Dr. Stalder and Klinik im Park!
