Muji doesn’t change much. From my first Muji visit in London, sometime in the mid-1990’s to this branch today. You get simple Japanese style and comfort at a price that is fair. This Muji also has a café inside.

I was only here to check out the café(the only one on the island so far). You get to reserve your seat by using the provided table markers(no need for tissue packets!) before you go order and get your food. There’s also baskets and space for your bags. Most of the hot and cold dishes I didn’t find appealing(also, don’t get me started on the prices), so I mainly stuck to the dessert options. There is a dessert set option where you get $ 1 off your drink if you get any dessert. I went with the caramel egg pudding and coffee. Egg pudding was okay, coffee was so-so.

I love Muji products but I dislike the prices. The minimalist designs always inspire me to want to de-clutter my place and be more organized. Unfortunately no matter how many organizer trays I buy, it just never happens. However the purse organizer does work, until I got lazy to use it. Now my latest treasure find is the travel neck cushion. As it has a clip on, you can extend it and put it around your waist too. I have also found it to be excellent to use at work as an arm/elbow rest on the table while typing away. This is one item which is versatile enough to be used in the office and home, so you can get more mileage out from it besides taking it on board a plane. You can also wash the cover which is way better than other neck cushion I have seen elsewhere. This branch also has a café in it. I love how the food is served neatly. However I don’t think it is value for money here. It is Japanese style cai fan. Instead of the typical option of a meat/fish + vegetables, here they spilt it into hot and cold dishes. The food is ok but I doubt I will be back any time soon. At about $ 20 for an underwhelming meal, I will prefer to go elsewhere. Another tip: You can probably find similar organizer stuff at a fraction of the cost at Daiso.

I always love MUJI for its zen minimalistic design. In fact, almost all of my dinnerware and utensils come from MUJI, so by now you can imagine my excitement when I heard MUJI Café & Meal will be opening it’s first ever café in Singapore. The food serves is mainly based on a very healthy and simple concept. Their mains are selections from the Deli, choosing either a 3 Deli(1 hot deli + 2 cold deli) at $ 12.90 or 4 Deli(2 hot deli + 2 cold deli) at $ 16.90. I was starving at the time so I chose the 4 deli option which consists of: Black Vinegar Sweet Sour Pork Fried Chicken Sweet Chili Mayonnaise(Chicken breasts when I had it) Prawn & Edamame Salad with Spiced Mayo Sauce Salad with Colourful Tomatoes & Mozzarella Cheese I find it satisfying and purely comforting at the same time. I ended the meal with Caramel Pudding as a dessert which I think is almost perfect. The texture is great and it’s not too sweet. It can be better though with adding a little bitterness to it. Ok so everything sounds perfect right? But the 3 star I gave is not because of the overall quality but because of slight annoyance I have when I figured the ‘Hot’ deli actually tasted very cold(which also happened during my visit to other MUJI café outside Singapore). I would appreciate more if MUJI makes an effort to keep the ‘Hot’ deli in warmer temperature.

Thanks to my move from New York, I was able to de-clutter and come to Singapore with just enough things to help me live. I was lucky to move-in to an already furnished apartment, as my husband has already been here for about a year. However, because he’s been living the«bachelor» life for some time, there were a few lady items that I had to introduce to his flat! And by lady items, I mean containers to put all my lady things… like makeup. Because my husband is obviously not a drag queen and would not have such things laying around his flat. ANYWAY, I digress. Here is where Muji comes in. To me, Muji would be the end product if Bed Bath and Beyond and Gap had some sexy time together, made a kid, and sent it to boarding school in Japan. This location in Paragon is pretty sweet, spacious, and filled with tons of Japanese minimalist goodies! I like how they sell houseware organizers, pens, clothes, and toiletries all in one shop. After my visit, I became the owner of 2 minimalist makeup containers. If I go overboard and buy all the buzzworthy Asian cosmetics brands offered here, I will definitely come back to buy more containers to contain it all!

The Paragon store is the big one! I love Muji — how can anyone not? This is Japanese minimalism at its best. Muji sells clothes, accessories, stationery, books, tea, toiletries, storage containers, food and more. The items are all sleekly packaged, with lots of cool clean lines and are so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Although I have bought a few collared shirts from here, I don’t really like the women’s cut as it feels too«boxy». I get a lot of my stationery from here — their files, notebooks, a really beautiful silver pen(re-usable) and post-it notes. I also get their rose-scented jasmine tea. I love their argyle socks, their 3 for $ 21 white t-shirts(in a pack), some of their clothes, their bags(have been using my sling bag from Muji for YEARS). I also have a lot of their«traveller» — items such as mini hair dryer, travel bag, travel bottles(for storing your favorite shampoos in travel-friendly styles). Er… just realised I have a lot of things, but how can anybody resist this store?
