Really disappointing. I was really excited after Unilocal reviews and observing the huge crowd at bar bar. What was bad? Service: the servers ignored us frequently. Live music: the singers were mediocre and the music was so loud that we couldn’t chat over them. Food: Calamari-the batter was so thick and tasteless. What was ok? Chicken tikka masala — pretty tasty but very spicy! Garlic naan — would get it again. Nicely flavored and good texture Wasabi prawn — reasonably fresh but not much wasabi flavor We also got happy hour beer but I don’t think that happy hour price is any different at any other times? I wish holland v would get better restaurants. It used to be so much fun!

Being the broke high school senior students that we are, a friend and I decided to head to Bar Bar when we saw that they had an affordable lunch set menu. I got the yakitori set. It was certainly better than what I expected at such an affordable price. I quite liked the sauce and it was certainly up to standard for a $ 10 nett meal. The miso soup wasn’t exactly impressive, but that’s expected in Singapore. When I looked through the menu, there was a wide variety of foods from various cuisines such as North Indian and Japanese. Quite an impressive range. When it was time to pay, the server informed us there wasn’t service charge(not sure if this is just for the set or the general policy for the restaurant), which was probably a good decision from management because the service really wasn’t great. Haphazardly throwing the menus onto the table where your customers are seated and not saying thank you upon payment didn’t really score many points with me. Nevertheless, I’m giving it 4 stars due to its not-too-shabby tasting food and affordable pricing.

Bar Bar Black Sheep features a variety of different food types(Indian, Japanese and Western) with some good cold beers. Prices were also reasonable with even beers being well priced(for Singapore). What’s not to like? I had the Chicken Tikka Masala which was rich and flavorful. Make sure to order Nan and rice separately as everything seems to be ala-carte. The full bar features a variety of beers, including Carlsberg on tap. There was a live band playing who had a good sound at a reasonable volume level. Service was very attentive and we were given free beers when we pointed out a billing error(it was in our favor). We are looking forward to going back this weekend.
