Budget value suddenly replaced the old Prime supermarket at Bishan Market 2 years back and has been providing Bishan residents witch cheap household items. Sandals go for $ 5 a pair(crocs look-alike) and instant noodles go for nearly as low as $ 1 for a packet of 5. Overall, I find that Budget Value does seem to help Bishan residents save costs when it comes down to daily items. However, one point about them is that most of their items are not of high quality and are export goods which explain their low price point. I’m quite sure that is in a bid to fight with the local Bishan Ang Mo which has been here for a super long time. In order to beat Ang Mo, their prices gotta be really low. Also, compared to the old Prime or Ang Mo, they do not sell perishable products such as vegetables or poultry, so one would have to go into the market place to get them. If one doesn’t mind the quality or the fact that the goods are export goods, one can visit budget value. The things they sell are really really very cheap.
