A place so local, that when I ordered with my thick American accent the uncle told me, «Welcome to Singapore!» after serving my drinks! Despite it’s central location in Far East Square, the price for a kopi or teh are still very affordable at under $ 2. Even if you go a little more fancier and order their pricier drinks, you’d still pay less than $ 5. I bought a round for 7 folks and I paid less than $ 20. WIN! They are located in the non-air conditioned part of Far East Square, so be prepared to sweat it out on a hot day. If you’ve never been here before, you’ll find them closer to Telok Ayer Street. Enjoy your morning or mid-day drinks!

This very popular stalk serves up not only your traditional coffee(kopi) & tea(teh), but also some modern fusion versions. Milo dinosaur(iced milo with a scoop of milo powder on top) is a popular item, together with teh cino(iced tea with milk). Go early if you want to get a seat. A lot of people just buy & takeaway, usually after their meals.

Fast service, delicious iced Teh Tarik and humongous take-away cups. The fact that its called the Mr. Teh Tarik Cartel is curious but the prices don’t seem inflated despite the allusion to monopolistic price fixing.

A great place as any in the CBD to get your teh tarik fix. But they have such a wide range that you should try out. I personally like their Teh Cino, it’s super milky and leaves such an awesome after taste in your mouth after you gulp it down. Their ice lime tea is also a great refresher especially on a hot stuffy afternoon. You’ll fine executives chilling here at all times of the day as people come here not only for their after-lunch tea fix but also tea break and whatnot. It’s a great place to have meetings away from the office once in a while, and they have snacks like curry puffs to complement your tea break.

Mr Teh Tarik is very popular with the lunch and tea break crowd because the service is fast and their drinks come in pretty large cups. As you line up and place your order with the auntie, the uncles behind are already mixing up your drink. I’ve tried the lime juice and ice lime tea and both are very refreshing. Colleagues who have ordered the teh tarik say that it’s quite good. There are a few tables lined outside the shop for people to sip and chat but I have almost never been able to get a seat during lunch hour. Perhaps I need to get more aggressive with my tissue choping after all. I suggest taking away your drink and walking around the corner outdoors to sit near the bamboo plants. Compared with other nearby coffee/tea chains, I’d rate Mr Teh Tarik as one of the better spots given their competitive prices, portions and speed.

Its alot harder than I would expect to find a decent cup of tea in the CBD area. Mr Teh Tarik was introduced to me on my first day of work at my current company by my manager, who relies on their signature Iced Lime Teas to get her through a scorching and stifling afternoon in the office. Aside from the usual Teh Tariks and Kopi-Os, Mr Teh Tarik serves up a wide range of beverages that are not only interesting and a fresh change, but super yummy! I’ve even compiled a list of ‘what to drink for what situation’: 1. Its hot, its sticky, and your’re falling asleep: Iced Lime Tea(you can opt to have additional sugar syrup at the cost of the aunty in cute pigtails nagging at how high sugar levels are bad for health) a great balance between sweet iced tea with the tang of lime — without the face-screwing sourness! 2. Its cold, wet and you’re STILL falling asleep: Kopi-O — its thick, creamy and leaves a pleasant after taste of coffee, none of that nasty instant stuff! 3. Gearing up for an afternoon meeting after a heavy lunch: Kopi-cino — a great sweeter alternative for coffee lovers, looks pretty as well! Half a cup of cream milk with thick kopi-o poured over. Topped with ice cubes and a generous coating of MILOPOWDER. Sugar rush and caffeine all in one, POWERSEH! 4. You’re cramping(that monthly pesky thing), bloated and just feel like something sickly and weak: Hot Ginger Milk Tea — Like what mum makes for us, but better! This tastes a lot more palatable with the milkiness and added sweetness. It cures a morning sinus in a flash, soothes cramps and gets rid of any gas! The branch at Far East Square is by far the best — we suspect it’s because the adorable pigtailed aunty is really the boss of the franchise, but she keeps denying it! Protesting too much???
