Nor’s Corner is a halal certified food store that sells the usual Malay dishes of mee siam, mee rebus, mee soto, nasi lemak, lontong, kuehs, etc. I like the mee siam there which is of the right amount of sourness and the mee rubus which soaked in rich, thick gravy. What is unique is that while it tasted authentically Malay, the store is operated by a Chinese family. This is what I like about Singapore food: it can be prepared by anyone from any ethnic group, but it must taste like the original versions from that ethnic group — not some lame alterations to suit the palate of the other ethnic group.
