Located at a corner of King’s Arcade, Bukit Timah Road, authentic Korean restaurant Sarangchae serves dishes pretty close to the ones found in Korea. Those who have been to Korea, you will be able to taste the difference from those locally made, which explains the slight costly price tag that comes with it. The Korean chefs are specially selected and flown down from Korea, with no prior experience in Singapore’s F&B industry. This is to preserve the authenticity of the cuisine so as to not alter the preparation methods to suit Singaporeans’ taste buds. Even the food ingredients used are imported mainly from South Korea. For those short hours I was there, I witnessed many groups of Koreans patronizing the restaurant for a hearty lunch meal. Hardly found in Singapore restaurants, the Pork-bossam(Napa wraps with pork) is one of the items I would personally recommend. It is a side dish that is best eaten with lettuce and kimchi, a popular dish among the Koreans. The chilli made is one of a kind and I’ll urge you to use it generously. I was told that there are steps you should follow when eating this dish, as to which ingredient comes first and all. No harm trying it out before asking for help!

Really good Korean food! I don’t know how authentic this Korean restaurant is because I’ve never lived in Korea but the food here is right up my alley. Although I’ve only eaten here once, it left a lasting impression and I’d be keen to visit again soon. I remembered having really delicious BBQ food here but I can’t remember the names of the foods as usual, have the staff recommend you what the favourites are! Seafood was very fresh and very yummy… I’ve also heard good things about their ginseng chicken soup from a friend who’s eaten there too. A little bit on the pricey side but, it’s a restaurant, you know? Good for celebrations or dates… why do we keep eating on dates? Maybe that’s why couple tend to get heavy together after they’ve been together a long time.
