Cocomo

I was at Cocomo today — actually, I’m here as we speak, and after a quick afternoon set it’s safe to say that I won’t be back again.
My mother and I were walking around at Yata because she wanted to look at cooking woks (her and her never-​ending quest for woks!) when we were attracted to the menu outside Cocomo. We saw that there was an afternoon set where you could pick three bite-​sizes cakes — yes, the menu actually read ‘bite-​sized’ and a drink for $ 48. Sounded pretty good to us, so we got a table.
We decided to just get one of those sets and an extra drink because we weren’t actually that hungry, and I’m glad we did, because the cakes weren’t that great. We got a mango mousse, tiramisu and a blueberry cheesecake — and no, they weren’t kidding when they said bite-​sized! The mango mousse was so small I could put the whole thing in my mouth — not that I would’ve, because it wasn’t very good. It was really sweet and tasted nothing like a mango mousse. The tiramisu was alright — quite soft and creamy, but the cheesecake was very hard and not smooth. The presentation of it wasn’t very nice either and the cakes looked pretty cheap. I really didn’t like that they had drizzled chocolate sauce all over the plate. I guess they intended for it to look nice, but it just interfered with the taste of the cakes and made everything sweeter than it needed to be.
The hot coffee that came with the set was not bad but it was served practically warm. I could have drank it all on one gulp and not have burned my tongue. The ice latte that we got as a separate order was one of the worst lattes I’ve ever had — I hate to say it, but it didn’t taste like a latte at all and was extremely watered down. It wasn’t sweet, nor was it milky… It was just, well, nothing. Literally — because my ICED latte did not have any ice in it.
I’ve passed by Cocomo many times and always contemplated coming with my mother. Well, once was more than enough. Needless to say, I won’t be back!
