I did not expect to have seen a souvenir shop here in On Ting. At the end of the day, this area certainly does not cater much tourist. However, when I looked at what they are selling, I realized they have found a perfect place to open this shop. HKID Gallery is a non-profit store that provides a platform for artists to showcase their work or even sell them. It goes hand in hand with local art industry that allows local designers to exhibit their creations including bags, stationary, accessories and stuff. Even though On Ting has yet to be one of those shopping malls, this area certainly has lots of young customers and having a shop like this certainly makes sense. What I like the most is that they have consignment here, meaning you can place your own work here and have the shop sell your goods. Most items here are very ‘girly’ and I have to warn all the guys out there, if you bring your girlfriend here and you two might end up spending hours here!(So for all those guys who have no idea where to take your girlfriend this weekend… you know what I mean…) I believe we used to have lots of those around Hong Kong but they all seem to have closed down due to the cut-throat business. Places like this simply cannot sustain their business with that amount of revenue each month. Anyway, HKID Gallery certainly has a more professional vibe to it and you may also visit its facebook page for more details.
