Seriously you can’t get better than Nobu… Ever. Crispy rice, black cod are my favorites. The Only thing is. As expensive as Nobu is normally, this particular location is even higher priced. The view from the restaurant looks like it is straight out of s film. I don’t know if you can beT the quality food and this view,

Overpriced delicious cuisine with fantastic views of the harbor from the second floor of the Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong. We dined at Nobu late December 2015 with a 10PM reservation during a quick layover in Hong Kong. The restaurant is on the second floor of the Intercontinental Hotel and overlooks the harbor. I emailed several months in advance requesting a window side table for our party of four and while I was never given a guarantee, we were seated near the window upon arrival. Service began attentive. While I get the mystique of the Nobu name, I personally thought the dishes were priced extremely high for the portions provided. That is not to say each dish was not full of flavor and amazing, not that I felt I over payed for the meal. Dishes are served tapas style. We ordered four dishes and found this adequate both for the amount of money we wanted to spend and food we wanted to eat at 10PM. We began with yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño which is an absolute must try. The flavor was fantastic, providing a nice little kick from the jalapeño. Next was thinly sliced scallops that were recommended by our waiter. While not an over the top experience, this was an excellent dish for any scallop lover. Third was the house maki rolled which was enjoyed by the entire table. Finally, and the reason I would highly recommend this restaurant, was the black cod. This dish was simply amazing and one of the best seafood dishes I have ever tried. The meat flaked off perfectly and was full of flavor, I would not dine at this restaurant without ordering this house speciality. The hype is real! Overall, Nobu as a fantastic dining experience, albeit more than I would be willing to spend on a monthly or even bi annul basis. I just do not think the prices commensurate with the amount of food provided. However, I am hesitant to remove a star for this flaw as the food was fantastic, the service fantastic, ambiance fantastic, and overall dining experience wonderful.

Went to dinner with a friend and had the set dinner menu with a bottle of white wine. We started at the bar and ordered from the great selection of Japanese whisky’s. The set menu was great and tasty. Barely a complaint from my myself or my dinner partner. Can’t fault the magnificent view of Hong Kong Island. Tables were spaced far enough apart to have a private conversation. Not somewhere you go often but definitely a place to experience.

My bad luck with upscale restaurants in HK continues to a set lunch at Nobu, where the setting is posh and dishes are pretty. I wasn’t a fan of the Japanese tapas as they were one note and uninteresting. If I hadn’t agreed to meet a friend there, I would’ve headed down to one of the tea houses off Nathan Road for more tasty fare.

We came to Nobu for the afternoon tea set. It was totally worth the trek! Since we had four people, we ordered two of the«simply t-set» for 2. The set was amazing! I’ll try my best to recall what we had — drinks we ordered: — nofe: omg this was my favorite! it’s like a japanese version of yuanyang, coffee mixed with matcha tea. SOO good! — cocoa matcha: matcha tea with chocolate syrup, not overpowering, pretty good — matcha cappuccino: a good choice if you want something warm(also available cold) — strawberry matcha: good option as well if you want something sort of fruity SAVORY — tofu roll with lobster and cream cheese: this was alright, a good starter to the set i suppose — squid ink tamagoyaki: inside was daikon and egg. this was perfect! usually tamago is too sweet but this one was just right — salmon jerky: a seafood version of beef jerky, tough but not teeth breaking tough. yum — japanese donut with liver pâté: more of a cake donut, this was alright(i’m not a huge cake donut person i guess) SWEET — chestnut cheesecake: less of a cheese taste and not too sweet. good with the chestnut paste, topped with a piece of chestnut and gold flake — berry jelly on top of soy bean jelly: interesting and not overly sweet. this was one of my brother’s favorites as he devoured ¾ of them — plum with some yuzu-ish cream inside: this was all of our least favorite as we are not huge plum/sour fans — matcha red bean tiramisu: amazing! it has the similarities of tiramisu with a cream top that was layered with matcha sauce, then a layer of crunchy pocky(to replace the lady fingers in a normal tiramisu) and topped(or rather bottomed) with red beans. this was my favorite of all the dishes! BREAD — sesame waffle: a good fluffy waffle that goes really well the sauces(dark chocolate syrup was our preference over the pineapple jam) — scone: paired with honey butter, my sister liked this but i felt its consistency was relatively similar to the donut we had earlier overall, i would say this is an amazing and unique tea set that you can share. it comes with a good amount and even with it all devoured, you’re not overly stuffed but pretty full. and this is coming from a family that didn’t have lunch before coming here and we were pretty starving. definitely come by for this afternoon tea! they also have a more traditional tea set downstairs in the intercontinental for those wishing for that as well!
