Taco Loco

Sometimes, you just gotta get Mexican. They do it A-​OK here. It’s pretty small, but if you manage to get a seat, you’re in for a treat. The crispy tacos with shredded beef were large and stuffed very generously with meat and cheese. The service was very good, and best of all, I was sitting at the window facing the gym where a parade of yoga pant clad hotties constantly entered and exited.
Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Even after many years, Taco Loco is consistently good, both in terms of food quality and overall value. Their carnitas is the standout meat, but I’ve never been disappointed by anything that I ordered. Generous sizes with plenty of guacamole (too many places charge an arm and a leg for even a tiny bit of the heavenly condiment) make this a solid choice for Mexican.

Please don’t judge me — I know you’re wondering why one would check out a taco joint whilst visiting Hong Kong. Call it a combination of curiosity, proximity, and hangriness.
Or more simply put: I am a tourist.
I ordered the taco salad with carnitas, which was admittedly pretty strange compared to the typical Western version of this dish. It came stuffed into a small plastic bowl, and the carnitas were much more fried than usual. Also, instead of being shredded they’re served in — not going to lie — a fairly unattractive patty-​form. Good news is that the pork was definitely tasty!
The salad came with 1.5 chips so they’re a bit off in their description of calling it a ‘taco’ salad, but it was certainly more than edible.
Skip the white sangria as it really doesn’t taste like much anything at all.
