This is a hard one for me to review. My fiancé and I came here on a whim. He is from Almeria but living in Menorca and we love to go out for Tapas when we are visiting. There is nothing better(in my opinion) than Spanish tapas! We were walking around the neighbourhood and found 16:9. As we always like to try something new(and in Spain it is rarely a problem) we thought we’d give this a try. I was rather confused by the theme and décor. It is an Asian cuisine but the décor is movie inspired with photos and random quotes on the wall. But, it wasn’t over done or in your face, so not bad… just interesting. As I said, we were out for Tapas, so we didn’t even look at the regular menu. They have good selection of Spanish Tapas, the usual suspects, which for me was great. I am not a huge fan of sushi. I’ll eat it if I have to, but if there are other options, I’ll go for those. For those who either love different sushi or want to just try a taste of different ones you don’t know, this is a great option. They had a large selection of Sushi tapas. They also offered a few Chinese tapas, dumplings and the like. Since I am currently living in Germany, I always love to get Spanish food when I’m here. Perhaps it was my own fault for going to an Asian restaurant and ordering Spanish tapas. I should have gone with the Chinese as I do love Chinese food and especially dumplings. But, I have a good place for dumplings in Munich where I am currently living, so I went for Spanish. They offered a Bull Hamburger with caramelized onion which sounded amazing. I was sadly disappointed. The bread tasted like it was purchased from the supermarket a week ago, dry and tasteless. The burger was even dryer and more tasteless with no seasoning, even a pinch of salt would have done a world of good. Some iceberg lettuce was piled underneath the burger… another flavourless addition. A toothpick skewered through a cocktail tomato on top of the burger was the crowning glory. Oh… did I mention I hate raw tomato with a passion? Adding in the fact that our red wine was fresh out of the refrigerator and WAY too cold, I was less than impressed with my experience. It wasn’t until we left(only staying for the one Tapa) that I realized I didn’t even have the advertised caramelised onions. I’m not sure how much of a difference that would have made, but it couldn’t have hurt, that’s for sure! I will add that my fiancé quite enjoyed the Tuna sushi he had and said he would go back for more. I told him he is welcome to as soon as I have returned to Germany. In conclusion, if you want sushi, this place is likely very good(though don’t go for the red wine unless you like it frosty), but I cannot recommend their Spanish tapas.
