This review is of the bar, rather than the hotel part of Abaco. The inn, I believe, is very good and has some excellent Turkish baths underneath it, but I’ve not had the pleasure. I have had the pleasure of chilling out in the bar a few times though. ‘Chilling’ is probably the best way of describing the atmosphere. Laid back, quite funky music. It’s a tad more expensive than the norm, but decorated to a very high standard with a Cuban theme. This extends to pictures of Cuban women smoking fat cigars. Everything looks like it’s brand new with no expense spared, but it’s at the edge of Altea old town and the building is clearly very old and full of character — you know: beams. Good also for cocktails, made up on the spot with fresh fruit for about six euro.
