Si te apetece un buen croissant para llevártelo, sí que vale la pena que te pases por ahí… si no, no es nada de otro mundo. Hay tantos lugares originales en Barcelona que me quede bastante decepcionado.

Vorgefunden haben wir ein nettes, ruhiges, modernes und sehr sauberes Café mit vielleicht 20 Sitzplätzen. Gleich am Eingang erwartet einen die Auswahl an Baguettes, Gebäck und Kuchen. Ein sehr netter älterer Herr hinter dem Tresen hat sofort erkannt, dass wir zum ersten Mal hier sind und uns alles ausführlich erklärt. Er sprach auch englisch, für uns war aber spanisch OK.
Es gibt eine reiche Auswahl an schlanken belegten Baguettes in weiß und auch in Vollkorn, die mit unterschiedliche Dingen — vegetarisch und mit Fleisch — belegt sind. Die Baguettes waren richtig gut, selbst für deutsche Maßstäbe. Für 5,60 € bekommt man ein ca. 15 cm langes belegtes Baguette, einen frisch gepressten Orangensaft und einen Kaffee. Brdtellt wird das alles gleich am Tresen am Eingang. Gedauert hat es auch nicht lange.
Es war vielleicht das beste Frühstück, dass ich je auf Reisen hatte.

Well, what a disappointment. this place looks nice, but is overrated/​overprice for the food in Barcelona and finally the touch which I didn’t like was the cockroach squeezing into the tables. That was nasty. I’ll never recommend it.

Great breakfasts for travelers (i.e., a perfect alternative to not-​as-​good and much more pricey hotel breakfast options): for about 5 and ½ euro you can get a ‘regular,’ which includes a baguette sandwich (of all kinds of options: cured salmon, just cheese, tortilla, jamon (of course) – most of which are complimented by tomatoes and/​or greens), a big freshly squeezed orange juice, and a café. They have spelt and multigrain options for the baguettes, too (the latter of which is often called ‘cereales’). You may also want to compliment your breakfast with one of their lovely pastries; their croissants – especially those made with mixed wheats – are just divine: buttery and only the slightest bit sweet (from the wheats, not the added sugars).
Also, as mentioned by other reviewers: the staff – especially the owner – speaks slowly in Spanish for those of us travelers who are trying to practice our Spanish, but need more time to both listen and respond. John (who my partner and I think is the owner) was so lovely and such a great language partner and teacher for learners – and on top of it the breakfast was outstanding. About 16 – 17 euros for two regular specials and a few additionals (water, pastries).

Here for breakfast with my wife and the food was good. But the service was excellent. Gentleman behind the counter took the time to explain to us how everything works. Food portions were a little on the small side BUT then again we’re American so yeah lol

Excellent place for breakfast or lunch. There is a nice selection of sandwiches, bread and fresh juice for just a few euros.
You can even combine your own sandwich. I had two with salami, cheese and tomato. The tomatoes tasted like they were picked in the morning.
The sandwiches were very good. I also had teo mini croissants which basically just came out of the oven, they were still warm — tasted great!
For drink had a café latte and a kiwi+melon juice. I recommend trying their juices.
Service was excellent, the older fella who took our order spoke very good english and even asked us which words should he be using for specific things to be more correct in his speech.
The interior was very modern, it was not so noisy. I couldn’t identify whether they had Wi-​Fi or not though.

Sets or combinations of your choice of many different sandwich/​pastry, fresh orange juice and coffee will hit the spot for most. Inside décor is sleek and stylish w/​two outdoor tables for those needing open air. The different combinations or sets for breakfast/​brunch are laid out on mini posters on the front before you enter but the staff patiently explains the choices if you jumped in without perusing.

Seriously gorgeous breakfast.
There is a deal: a coffee, a freshly squeezed orange juice and a bocadino (a small baguette sandwich) made with freshly baked bread. There is the option of white or seeded/​wholemeal with fillings such as cheese, ham, salami and more.
The bread was amazing. So fresh.
It was a great value breakfast.
I was full after eating it.
However, the best thing about this place were the staff.
So so lovely and helpful! Spoke slowly in Spanish so that I could understand. I wanted to give him a hug for being so patient and sweet.
The menu here looked so good– head here for lunch too! Plus they have gorgeous looking pastries.

A great place for coffee, pastries and much more. We ate lunch and breakfast here a number of times and couldn’t fault the food and friendly service.
All the bread and pastries are baked on the premises so it’s also a great place to buy your daily loaf.

Juice was so good! Pastries were fresh & light. Coffee was good to great. Beautiful neighborhood & efficient staff. All in all, a great Sunday morning success!

Very trendy and nice looking and the bread is baked right there but it is kind of expensive so it’s not a place you go to buy bread every day exactly but if you want a yummy sandwich and a great cup of coffee this is your place!

Hänsel es una cafetería muy agradable. El local es minimalista pero no tiene nada especial ni es muy grande. El servicio tampoco es especialmente simpático.
Pero lo bueno realmente está en el interior. Todo lo que sirven esta cuidado y utilizan productos de calidad. Podemos encontrar pastas dulces, bocadillos variados, zumos de frutas, pan, café, etc. Vamos, lo que solemos pedir en un desayuno.
Todo lo que he probado de Hänsel está muy bueno. Desde los croissants de chocolate muy jugosos y nada grasos hasta los bocadillos vegetales con pan de cereales.
No tienen un surtido muy extenso pero es suficiente para dejarnos satisfechos de buena mañana.
Yo quizás le añadiría zumos naturales exprimidos al momento (los tienen riquísimos pero embotellados) y alguna tarta para poder tenerlo en cuenta también para merendar. Lo que le sacaría son algunos céntimos de cada producto porque van un poco pasados de precio.
Aún así, merece la pena tenerlo en cuenta para buenos desayunos de fin de semana por su alta calidad.
Para la hora de comer también tienen menú con algunos platos sencillos como ensaladas, cremas o bocadillos.
Hänsel es un lugar que cumple perfectamente su función sin pedir grandes maravillas.

Todo lo que he probado en Hansel me ha parecido de altísima calidad. Desde los croissants, que ya es difícil en España encontrarlos frescos y crujientes, hasta el pan y los zumos. Una opción muy buena para desayunar. Parece que entre la oferta gastrónomica también hay posibilidad de comer platos como taboulé, gazpacho o salmón marinado.
La calidad del pan hace que los bocadillos sean muy buenos. El de jamón con pan de cereales es muy recomendable.
Hay algún pero para que no le de 5 estrellas. Es un lugar algo caro. Los bocadillos para ser pequeños se pagan a 3 euros y si quieres comprar pan también lo pagas a casi 2 euros la barra (cierto es que está muy bueno)
El café podría ser mejor. No es malo, pero ofrecer el clásico Lavazza le resta personalidad al local, le quita encanto. Aquí pierden una buena oportunidad para hacerlo redondo.
Finalmente, el servicio no es del todo cálido. Esto, en un lugar especialmente pequeño tiene mucha importancia, donde la personalidad de los encargados matizan el encanto del lugar…
En resumen, una cafetería/​panadería de calidad, de estilo funcional, que podría ser algo más de lo que es. Que es bastante.

Went back this morning. Had an Americano two fresh croissants right from the oven and a small freshly squeezed OJ for 4,80 Euros. Fantastic and super delicious.

The BEST iced cappuccino I’ve ever had. I may not be a coffee critic but I drink 2 cups a day on average and this was delicious! Keep on mind, it’s extremely creamy so if you want more caffeine, this isn’t for you. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy your cappuccino, then you’ve found the promise-​land!

Das Hänsel bietet für’s Z’Morge alles was man braucht. Wer herzhaft mag, bestellt das Esmorzar Salat (=salzig): Sehr gut belegtes Baguette (nach Wahl aus der Auslage, sehr zu empfehlen ist das Baguette mit Spinat-​Tortilla), grosses Glas frisch gepresster Orangen-​Saft und eine Tasse Kaffee. Das Ganze für Euro 5,20 und serviert von sehr freundlichem Personal. Dicke Empfehlung.

Everything was great! We had breakfast here twice. We tried the quiches which were great and the second time we had the breakfast special. It was a sandwich, coffee & OJ for about € 5 each. We also tried the brownie and another pastry covered in slivered almonds and icing sugar, both of these were awesome. I definitely want to go back next time I’m in town!

Hänsel es una panadería dedicada a productos de alta calidad, usando los mejores ingredientes y con una constancia de sabor impresionante, el croissant es de mantequilla y las ensaladas muy frescas. El pan es genial en todas sus formas y los quiches y otros petit fours son excelentes. Pasamos por ahí muy a menudo, el servicio es de primera y siempre está muy limpio, también tienen una pequeña zona de terraza. En fin, es nuestro café favorito de Barcelona.

Es como una panadería elegante con un buen surtido de pastitas y dulces, también ofrecen un «set-​menú» de Brunch (yogurt, tostada con mermelada y algo de huevo revuelto”. El sitio está muy bien, el servicio atento. Lo único (no hay reseña sino alguna crítica…) que las mesas están muy pegadas la una a la otra, podrías sin problema probar del plato de tu vecino en algún momento de despiste…

Impersonal, caro y camarera más bien desagradable.

This bar was less rhan a block away from our hotel and we ended up coming here on 3 different occasions. The breakfast deals are a great value — I always got the chocolate croissant, orange juice and café con leche. Good strong coffee — the perfect way to start your day in Barcelona and the orange juice was fresh-​squeezed. We also picked up sandwiches and fresh smoothies for our train trip to Madrid — they were the perfect snack. All in all, a great little find!

My wife raved about the coffee at this place the rest of the trip. It looks like the locals stop and grab a quick bite on their way to work (at 10:00?). I couldn’t understand the menu but I asked if they had quiche and they had three kinds. I had the spinach/​artichoke I think and it was amazing. Great find.

Castellano: Delicioso lugar para pasteles y café. El lugar olía a pan recién horneado — maravilloso! Los buñuelos de chocolate era increíble! Café delicioso. Pero, el servicio era un poco lento. Yo probablemente les daría una calificación más alta si el servicio no era tan lento
English: Delicious place for pastries and coffee. The place smelled of fresh baked bread — marvelous! The chocolate bunuelos were amazing! Coffee delicious. BUT, the service was a little slow. I would probably give them a higher rating if it weren’t for the slow service.

Yes Hansel, I did get up in the middle of the night to eat your brownie, and I don’t regret a single bite…

Very modern Café & very busy. Husband and I had two coffees and two sandwiches with a water. There were pastries and different sandwiches on the counter that you can pick and choose a combination of the day. Very good!

Great breakfast, ate here 3 days in a row, had the Jamon sandwiches and some pastry’s with coffee and juice, so good.

Otra cafetería classy en pleno corazón del Eixample oficinista para añadir a mi agenda de lugares selectos de los que me he hecho fan y a los que volver asiduamente.
En el Hänsel hacen un café delicioso y, como dicen por aquí, unos crussanes de mantequilla de mueeerttte, nada empalagosos, ligeros pero a la vez potentes, con un exterior crunchy y una masa suelta y esponjosa. Aunque es bien difícil decidirse por algo con su extensa barra plagada de bollería fina y pan en todas sus formas, colores y texturas.
El interior está diseñado por el Estudi Bonjoch y es de líneas muy limpias y simples, a diferencia de otras cafeterías que quieren tener detrás algún concepto determinado (de tienda gourmet en el caso del Marys Market y el Cornelia&Co y de panadería provenzal en el del Crustó), Hänsel apuesta por una estética muy básica (y neoyoquina) a la vez que moderna, que no le quite protagonismo a las delicias que se cuecen dentro literalmente y además, y para más ironía, en horno de leña.
Todavía me hace falta tomarme muuuchos cafés dentro para cogerle el cariño que le tengo a otros sitios, pero no será por la calidad de lo que ofrece, porque es, sin duda, una de las cafeterías indispensables de la zona para los amantes de lo bueno.

Desde que descubrí esta panadería aviso en casa que bajo por pan y no le añado la frase «ahora vuelvo». Ir al Hänsel es casi como la aventura de ir a comprar tabaco, solo que a diferencia de esta, tarde o temprano, más bien tarde, llegas a casa con la barra mediada.
Y si tardo en volver no es porque me quede lejos la panadería ni mucho menos. Tampoco lo es por esperar un buen rato en la cola a que te atiendan. Cuando voy a Hänsel suelo tardar porque me gusta quedarme tomando un café acompañado de una coca en su cafetería.
Después me levanto y recorro de punta a punta su barra, mientras las dudas me asaltan sobre la variedad de pan artesanal que me voy a llevar.
Son tan ricos sus panes que incluso en un bocadillo de jamón de bellota, si no puedes más, dejas las lonchas antes que desperdiciar sus migas.

Tras años de tragarnos un pan que, de un día para otro, bien podría haber pasado por un nuevo producto de la Trident o bien rompernos un pie si nos caía involuntariamente encima, somos muchos los que buscamos un pan de verdad, de los de antes, de los que llenan de aroma y de sabor la habitación y el paladar y que incluso pueden robar el protagonismo a un buen embutido en un bocadillo. Hansel es una de las propuestas dirigidas a ese público, y lo hace a pocas calles de la famosa panadería Turris, pero con un formato más de cafetería. La principal característica de Hansel es que cuecen sus panes en un horno de leña y eso les da un punto artesano y auténtico que no se te olvida fácilmente. Además de comprar un pan con el sorprenderás en casa, puedes pasarte por Hansel para hacer un tentempié, probar sus pastas artesanas y también para hacer una comida rápida, sana y ligera a mediodía.

El no vivía del cuento.
Este original bar tiene poco que ver con el clásico y dramático cuento de los hermanos Grimm, de hecho sólo se llama Hänsel, (falta Grëtel) aquel valiente niño, al que sus padres, víctimas de una precaria situación económica, lo echan a la calle para que no muera de hambre junto a su hermana.
El, muy inteligente, trazó el sendero de su casa con migas de pan para no olvidarse de cómo regresar. Lo interesante, es que el Bar-​Restaurante Hänsel, era antiguamente un obrador de pan. Tradición, que hasta el día de hoy continúa viva en su cocina, y diariamente, lo hacen con sus propias manos y luego lo venden al público.
Y hay de varios tipos, muy sabrosos por cierto: Pan de coca, pan de sabores, de pasas y nueces, y el de 6 frutos diferentes. Yo probé el de aceitunas es realmente espectacular.
Aquí el secreto está en la fermentación de un día para otro. Otras exquisiteces son: los kiches lorraine, las pizzas, los bocatas de puerros y vegetales. Todo esto lo puedes acompañar con un café con leche cortado con leche de soja, si lo prefieres con todo el gusto de este atractivo lugar.
Su decoración es simple, pero muy innovadora, en tonos negros donde la estrella son sus diversos tipos de panes caseros, y por supuesto, todos sus secretos. ¡Gracias, Hänsel!
