The Benedict

I was really disappointed in The Benedict after being really impressed on a previous trip. Last time we visited Barcelona, we were with people who really wanted familiar food and so we went there quite a lot. The food was consistent and the service was friendly.
This morning we decided to go there for breakfast after a boozy night out and were incredibly disappointed:
— My hashbrowns were horribly, inedibly burned
— My husband ordered the English breakfast and was given the American breakfast
— My friend’s breakfast was cold
Worst of all, when we asked for tap water (in addition to the coffees and juices we ordered) we were given a story that the restaurant water isn’t safe to drink. When I told her that we drink tap water in Barcelona all the time she said she wasn’t allowed to give us tap water. Either they were being incredibly cheap, or more worryingly, the water in the restaurant is contaminated. If it’s not safe to drink, it’s probably not safe for washing vegetables, hands or other things.
We were unhappy with our experience today and won’t be back.
