Holy seafood. Stopped in Baiona on our way from San Sebastian to Coruna and happened upon this place. Baiona is a beutiful town with a waterfront castle, numerous beaches, restaurants and shopping. I don’t recall why we chose this place but it is on the water(well, across the street but there are no restaurants on the other side of the street so it’s an unobstructed view). We saw people eating very tasty looking rice dishes and ordered rice with scallops(menu said zamburinas which are delicious small scallops) but the rice came with small clams. That caused some confusion because we love zamburinas and they are not often confused with or substituted with clams, but it was realllly good, and a nice size for two to share. We also ordered the mussels en vapor(steamed with nada — no garlic, butter to hide the seafood). They were the best mussels we have ever had. Ever. All of the mussels we had in Spain(NW) were orange inside, not orange from paprika or anything just orange and fresh and delicious. If you’re in Baiona, go here and then walk it off at the castle and grounds across the street(only 1 euro and you get it back if you buy a drink or food at their café). It is a stunningly beautiful area.
