I don’t agree with the other reviews. The tapas were reasonable and the service was fine. It wasn’t the highlight of my trip to Barcelona, but I have no regrets coming here. Try the mussels!

Can I give this restaurant less than 1 star? Ugh! What a waste of a meal!!! We were looking for Egipte, a restaurant that was highly recommended by more than one friend, but it was out if business and this was in it’s place. We were tired, hungry and it was really late. We should’ve gone to McDonald’s instead. At least we would’ve known what to expect. It was simply awful. Don’t waste your time, unless you want a mediocre(at best) sangria the size of your upper torso. They have them there. I’ll go to Vegas if that’s what I’m looking for.

Got pizza here for € 10 because it was the cheapest thing we could find at the time. Big mistake. Tasted like frozen pizza and the people working here are not at all inviting

One of the worst meals ever from a restaurant that taught me NEVER to patronize a restaurant that has people out front trying to persuade you to come in. We were served an incredibly greasy paella that was so salty and greasy it wasn’t edible. Perhaps they were able to serve what we couldn’t eat to someone else? I really can’t find anything good to say about Genové 1911. Well, it’s in an historic building. Save yourselves. Find another historic building and find a better place to eat.

Look for another tapas resto along La Rambla my friends. We decided to be tourists and eat along La Rambla after walking about all day in the sun. Since La Rambla is crammed with restaurants of every shape and size catering to tourists, and everywhere is crowded with human beings, we ducked into a place that looked classy. Being a foodie, I wanted traditional food, even if it was a tourist area. The dark wood décor and the food arrangement set out to entice us looked good so we went inside to see if we could get a taste of Catalan. The Atmosphere Dark wood walls and tables and a nice big window gave it a classy vibe. Tables down one side of the narrow layout are able to sit four with ease. The bar on the left side had food laid out for choosing behind glass. The ceilings were high and dark. There was room for nearly 6 plus tables in the back, enough to accommodate a family, couples, and some parties of two drinking their beers. The décor was not memorable. The Food We knew some signature dishes involved fish and rabbit, so we ordered those. They didnt have the most traditional dishes that were in my guidebook, so we started out being a little disappointed there. Our waitress recommended a salad as well. The name escapes me now but it was thinly cut cabbage with a big slop of cream dressing on it. Corn, some teeny pieces of cucumber and peppers and ham rounded out the starter. I for one am a salad snob, and the cream dressing was too much and far too rich for my taste. I should have asked which dressing it was before I ordered, but even then, the portions of the realveggies were small and that wasnt great. The most important and expensive part of the salad is the actual veggies on it. Cabbage is cheap and so is my love for salads that make it their primary ingredient. Plus cream sauce. It wasnt Kraft(yes it was better) but it wasnt anything special either. My companions ordered the fish soup for their starters. It looked good, but was very salty with very thoroughly shredded fish in it. Rather fishy, which was ok with me, but I am not a fan of soup that is salt-based. I try to keep the sodium bombshells to my body at a minimum. I get enough of them with preservatives and other sneaky foods. The mains were fish and rabbit, served with a big fried slice of potato and rice. The rice is different from the dry or sticky rice from Chinese restaurants, more greasy but not too heavy. My fish was golden fried on one side and cut in round slices(not de-boned). It came with two half inch slices of the white-fleshed fish. The taste was not fishy and nicely crunchy, which is what happens when you fry fish so it was good, though a little greasy for my taste. The potato was rich and had great texture, though again my head rebelled at the fried-ness a little bit. It tasted great. I sampled my friends rabbit and ended up eating a whole bunch of small bones. The slab of meat looked gigantic but it was a lot of bone and fat. Rabbits are not the leanest meat. Again it was cut straight through in a round slice of ribs and spine. I managed to get a good piece and it tasted like chicken and pork at the same time. But again, it was greasy. I dropped some on my pants and the damn stain would not come out arg! Second day of my trip! The Service The staff was friendly and checked up on us, and put up with me testing out my terrible Spanish on them. It being a tourist area, their English was good. The staff recommended our dishes and were helpful with the menu, which was great, since we were still learning the ins and outs of the local food. Overall, we did not enjoy our stay there, despite the friendly staff. There are so many restos in that area that must be better. Find another and save your arteries some grease.
