This was the only restaurant we visited during our trip to south Tenerife, so I’ll compare it to others in Santa Cruz. As a swede, I thought it was funny when I saw this sign at the road, in swedish, «Restaurang Göta Kanal», so we just had to check it out. So obvious it was a swede tired of the cold in the north that finally did something about it. First some history. This water stream its name origins from is not a small stream, its the only man-made, connecting the west and the east of Sweden and the two largest cities with each other so you don’t have to take a long trip around the entire south. This was almost as big as panama-canal up here when it was built in the 1800’s. I expected expensiveness and fish, my least two favorite things within food. :) While running back and forth at the parking lot outside trying to find the entrance, we had 2nd thoughts both once and twice, but we’re on vacation, not time to be cheap. I’m sure they have something else then salty fish. Oh the happiness when we finally understood that the sign«restaurant» had the same font as the sign at there road. Was this small little road hidden at the very far end of the parking lot the entrance? Of course we had to try their swedish, and the waiter(all males) understood us quite well, but it was their 2nd language. They seem to have all kinds of happenings during the weeks, including swedish«dansband» which is… a very weird kind of music people above 50 like to dance to. And that was this restaurant’s focus group: Scandinavian tourists over 50, and it was a lot of them, even in the winter. It felt like this retirement home I visited at home a few weeks ago. Nothing bad with this, if you are among this focus group, this place will be your favorite. And boy does this concept seem to work. The place have been here for 30 years, and will probably be here 30 more. They serve swedish classic food, well made, and there were other food then expensive salty fish. :) The waiters are very. correct. Hands on their back, has been for years. They feel like a butler. A dinner with wine for two including 10% tip is about 30 €. There is a price range however if you want more fancy stuff. If you feel like the focus group, and happens to be in this town, go go go! You need to visit this place at least once.
