I was looking forward to have diner here, based on many good reviews. This turned out to be a very big disappointment. Both the website from the restaurant and the signs outside the restaurant indicated they serve food, There would even be a Sunday super Carvery today according to the restaurant’s website. Asking for a menu it turned out they did not serve any meals today, only sandwiches, because of some British Sunday pub tradition. Since I’m not British (and I was in Spain) and I did not see any indication about this tradition, I could not know that the kitchen was closed.
Explaining to the waitress our surprise about the closed kitchen, we pointed her to the sign outside indicating the food they should serve, without any indication about closed kitchen on Sunday. She responded that she was not the manager and could not do anything about it. When we walked away without any food, the manager walked outside, looking at the sign and shouting on angry tone «so what?»
I don’t have a problem with special evenings in a restaurant. But I really was disappointed that the kitchen unexpectedly was closed. At first we planned to forget about the situation and give them another chance later in the week, because anyone can make a mistake, but after the angry tone from the manager we won’t come back here!
