Great hotel, either all-in or full pension. Food is great, for dinner there is another theme every day. For example yesterday was Italian, day before that was Canarian(local) and the desserts are absolutely delicious. Rooms are ok, TV sets are all replaced with modern flat panels, we saw the last ancient tv sets being carried out. Everything is clean as it should be. We stayed for 7 nights, the audience is on average 65 years old, but I guess that’s normal in the low season. Not much to do for kids except the mini disco at 20:30. And plenty of pools to pick from of course. If you want to see something of the island, a hire car is a must. Roads are from bad to very good, so take care when driving. I would definitely stay here again.

I visited this Hotel in September 2013. I thought a lot about what I would write but eventually, this is important for any visitor to know: THEHOTEL: The hotel is a little bit in the middle of nowhere. You need two busses to get to Santa Cruz or El Paso at € 2 per bus each way. The hotel has its own«mini market» though prices for most items are hefty. Within the hotel, you can charge everything to your room to pay at departure. The cash machine in reception was broke for a long time(at least Thursday to Wednesday). This restricted my opportunities especially during the second week a lot. I do not like keeping too much cash lying around in my room so this was a problem for me and others. I could literally not leave the hotel by means other than foot. RECEPTION: Staff was nice though any request made was listened to but not heard. Especially the cash machine issue was annoying but reception staff did not offer any solutions(such as giving € 10 and charging them to the room). This was not only my perception but a number of other guests agreed that there was no real help from the staff. THEROOM: The room is nice and lives up to its expectations. The bathroom has a shower as well as a bathtub, toilet and basin. Overall nice though Mine required a number of repairs(see below). The sleeping/living area has two beds(be aware, no double bed), a large wardrobe(with additional blankets and cushions), a minibar, a tv(though not quite up to today’s standards), a sofa and chair. If you have a room with view of the sea, you’re likely to have a balcony with a pretty view. However, all seaview rooms are directly above the pools. Therefore, noise coming from animations, kids playing in the pool etc. will affect the enjoyment of the balcony room during the day. Housekeeping will make up the room and change towels if required during the day. This was well done, however, I would have preferred it if the balcony door was not left open after(for security reasons I prefer it closed when I am out which is why I close it before leaving). Moreover, the air conditioning was put on full blast by housekeeping and regulated down to 10 degrees(from the 18 degrees I had put in). GYM: The hotel has a fitness room situated on one end of the premises. I went there everyday during my stay. Inside, one bike makes funny noises when used. What I really did not enjoy was the use of the after 11am. Many users would come without shirt, some in bikini or flip flops. No disinfectant spray or similar was provided(not even upon requesting it several times) and the equipment was also not cleaned daily(clearly visible) — overall disgusting and no pleasure to use. POOLS: The hotel has 11 pools according to the description. One of these is in the spa(costs € 10 per day). Overall the pools are nice but more suited for hanging around, not swimming. All of the pools require repair. Tiles are loose, there is a lot of dirt and other things on the ground(I cut my foot on one tile). BREAKFAST: Served mainly the English breakfast idea though I do admit I quite liked the pancakes. However, eating bread with cheese was almost impossible. The usual cheese brands such as Edam and Gouda were available but already pre-cut in slices that were too thick by anyone’s standards. One day I tried the goat cheese but like the others it was already lying there for a while and looked neither attractive nor healthy. Unfortunately, this was the case every single day. DINNER: Every day has a different theme. There was a big choice every day. However, if you have some special eating requirements do tell the headwaiter or reception. I did not expect having a problem(no pork or too unhealthy, greasy food for me). I learned on the first night that this was a problem: lots of pasta and greasy sauces, marinated meat and the fish was not eatable. Moreover, the vegetables were all overcooked with no taste left and no need to chew. I came across a number of people who had visited before and said that the food used to be a lot better. Lastly, having half board I needed to pay for my drinks at dinner. During my stay, prices increased. While this may have been indicated on the card, customers were not informed(and when ordering the same every evening, I do don’t check the card not that it would have been offered). REPAIRS: On my arrival a number of repairs had to be made. The plastic drain was broke and being scared to injure myself I requested it fixed. The tap was also not working properly. Both were fixed but I do not understand why this is not fixed prior to arrival. Maybe I was simply unlucky but I would not be surprised if I was not the only one. During the last few days I knew one of the pools would be repaired. However, we were not told that this would be the largest pool and that this would result in much noise during the day that could be heard across the hotel and at all pools. The bottom line is: THREESTARSONLY!
