This is a genuine treasure of original art and local creativity. I bought some tiles which were from a batch used to restore the Alhambra. True artistry at its best. Thank you.

There are a number of little boutiques that sell leather books and other worked goods. So i hope i have the right one. Close tot he Plaza Neuve and along the walk to the Alhambra lies a little shop selling jewelry and leather items such as books and bags. You’ll know your there as its the only place along the road with the artisan sat in front working on her latest work. With family from Luton the proprietors English was flawless(and came with the offer«we all speak English here so if you’ve any problems come see us»). After i had ummed and ahhed for a little while and still couldn’t find exactly what i wanted the kind lady suddenly got up(from a keen discussion on Spanish politics with my friend) and said«well come with me to the workshop and we’ll see what we have!» Now i truly hope this becomes common practise because it was one of the most novel shopping experiences of my life. We were taken out of the shop and down the road, we buzzed into an unmarked wooden door and the woman gestured up an abandoned looking hallway. We walked up the stairs and were met by a Spanish man who introduced us as the woman’s son. He took us through a floor of clustered workshops all kept cool with the shutters drawn and past people knelt sorting bags and books, past another room where an old man played guitar(the song echoing softly through all the rooms). There were plants everywhere and the atmosphere was strangely cool and bohemian. All in all i think i would have bought something regardless, just to have been let up there. As it was he produced an entire box of goodies and the one i wanted was inside. Though pricey by English standards the price was actually fairly competitive for Granada. Home worked items, even in the remotest villages still stay very high and so unless you want to haggle in the markets i’d say your still on to a winner here. For an all round amazing shopping experience and helpfully for me in mostly English terms i would say this little shop is worth at least a browse!
