FOOD: We went for the food, but it may have been better experienced as a pub. 9 unique tapas — we tried 8, and loved them all! SERVICE: very friendly and social :) The bartender/waiter is from the UK, so no Spanish required. COST: Free tapa comes with each drink, but can purchase for $ 1.4(?) each, or half portion, or full portion($ 7?) — do not recall exact pricing, but our meal for 2, including 5 drinks came to $ 16 euros, so no complaints. OVERALL: Away from the main parts of town, and is very small inside, but the food is amazing, so worth a visit! Highly recommended.

The menu is small so we ordered everything, some things twice, and all were good. Cozy little bar with unique but tasty tapas. Owner is great. Worth a visit, just get in early to grab a seat, they go fast on the weekends.

Walked across town to come here. Unilocal said they’re open 830PM — 1AM all week, but to my great disappointment the restaurant was closed when I arrived at 10:30PM. I wish they would update their hours and report the correct open/closing times. This was my only night in Granada, so I guess I will never find out when this restaurant is actually open and whether their food is good. They should update their hours — very disappointing!

Incredible place to visit, and Poë the owner and his wife are the friendliest folks I met while traveling through Spain, and on that basis, I will return. Granada is most certainly the best place I visited and am so happy to have met this wonderful couple. The food is insane. And by insane I mean the best I had on my journey, by far. This place is a must-see!

GREATFOOD! We ordered everything in the menu(all 9 of them) and each of them tastes super delicious. My favorites are Spicy Pork Piri2(no. 3) and Spicy Chicken Liver(no.7). The owner, Matthew, is very nice and attentive even though there are many people at the bar and he was the only person works there. I would recommend this place to anyone who visit Granada. This place is a MUST. Price wise — very affordable. 1.40 Euro for each Tapas. Cheap and delicious. What a perfect combination!!! Pro: Food, drink, price, customer service, Matthew & Wife Con: None

Sadly, I never got to eat or drink at Poe’s because they do not accept credit cards. It’s hard to understand how an establishment with such raving reviews and a plethora of business can’t invest in a square and take Visa & Mastercard payments. I get it that Amex’s fees are super high but it’s 2015. Let’s stop nickel and diming and invest in a critical piece of the business. They seem to operating just fine without one so it works for them but as a solo traveler walking alone late at night, I tend not to bring more than 5 – 10 euros on me which is not enough for 2 drinks at Poe. Maybe the next time I travel to Granada, I’ll be able to enjoy their establishment.

This was probably the coolest place we went while in Granada. The owner is British and his wife is from Brazil. Everywhere in Granada serves you food with your drinks but this was the only place we went to that let you choose the food. A must go to in my opinion.

After reading all the reviews my husband and I had to visit this place. The best bar in Granada. Loved the atmosphere and the food. Tapas were absolutely delicious with the spice so uniquely blended with the food. The owner is such a lovely man. Sad that we didn’t have the opportunity to meet his wife.

What a wonderful place. I never thought that I would have landed in such a place during my travels through Southern Spain. I had a little more than 24hrs in Granada and had so much food to choose from. I figured that I would that I would try Unilocal to see what kind of reviews I would come across. After reading reviews for Poe, I had to try it out because I was all kinds of curious. My partner and I came here for dinner after only eating a small breakfast and spending most the day at Alhambra… So needless to say we were hungry. The owner was charming and really such an amazing guy. We were also surrounded by so many Americans. We had to do a double take at times because we hadn’t heard American accents in a couple of days. Each drink comes with a tapa size dish. We each had three drinks and paid for one extra tapa each, and we were so full! And the food… I’m drooling just thinking about what I ate tonight. I ate all the chicken dishes(the coconut-which my partner got, the Thai spicy chicken, and the chicken liver) all so amazing! As much as I loved how tasty the chicken liver was, I loved the spicy Thai… enough to have ordered it three times. Please go there: eat, drink, and have fun. You’re welcome.

Perhaps one of the best bars in all of Granada, if you’re in Southern Spain, this hole-in-the wall represents a quintessential marriage of libations and unforgettable tapas. Overall Experience(5⁄5) An amazing value, the tapas were amazing, prepared with care, and offered a variety from fresh salads, to savory curries, to delectable local specialties. Scene(4⁄5) It seems as if Poë is perhaps more popular with the university /tourist /hostel scene than locals. In fact, the main bartender speaks Portugese first, English second and Spanish a distant third. A great scene overall — high bar tables, a nice U-shaped bar, but if you’re hoping to meet locals here, you’re out of luck. As this place is a hole in the wall that’s not easy to find, I imagine most tourists are using the Internets to find Poë. As they should, it’s standing room only by 10 p.m., and a friendly crowd overall Drinks(4⁄5) The beer is cold and fresh. Poë has one or two speciality drinks readily available. There appear to be a number of liquors adorning the wall. The drinks are better than average, for sure. But make no mistake. People come to Poë for the tapas that accompany the drinks, and to converse with their friends and other travelers. Food(5⁄5) Simply brilliant. The tapas menu at Poë boasts eight or nine items, at most. Two or three cold salads, two or three savory protein dishes, and a few other assorted items. Make no mistake, foodies would love this place, and the food is great for families, too.(ask our 11-year old, who kept asking for more!). The portion sizes are just right. A nibble to go along with your beverage, and additional tapas-sized portions for only 1.40eur. The pork skewers featured grilled pineapple that was both succulent and carmelized. The salted cod salad was a classic Spanish dish executed perfectly. Perhaps best of all was a chicken in spicy Thai curry sauce that was warm and luxurious. We abandoned all hopes of hitting more bars, recognizing that the food was as good as it gets. Value(5+/5) Two adults, three kids. Two drinks per for the adults, and a large number of tapas over ~two hours, including many for a growing teenager. Total bill was 18 euros. I would have easily handed over twice that amount without blinking an eye. Overall phenomenal experience!

Free Tapa with every drink and super cheap. I think the owner/bartender was extremely nice. Limited to 6 – 7 different Tapas but they are mostly all rock solid. Especially the black beans with pork.

Poe was incredible, albeit hard to find. We originally asked lots of locals to help us out with directions and got so turned around it was unbelievable. When we finally found it there was a sign that said it was closed for another day for a summer vacation. Luckily they were set to open the very next day, so we went back and crossed our fingers that the sign was correct. Like many have said this is an international tapas experience in Granada. The food(besides the gratis culture of Granada, and the portion size) was not Spanish in nature at all. I imagine after being in Spain for a very long time as an expat this is a huge perk. We weren’t at all sick of Spanish food, but we were still excited for Brazilian inspired dishes none-the-less. Menu wise, Poe is different than most tapas joints because you can actually select the tapas you’d like to accompany your drinks. We opted for a Black Bean & Pork Stew, Chicken livers(per the owners suggestion), a refreshing garbanzo salad and a Thai chicken dish. Overall my favorite was definitely the Black Bean & Pork stew, but the livers were a nice surprise as the heat and sauce melded well with the liver-y-ness that I’m not usually crazy about. I’d even order it again if ever in Granada eating at Poe. If you’re looking for somewhere to grab something different, and a break from speaking Spanglish, definitely look Poe up!

Great concept and a nice change-of-pace while in Granada. The free tapas with every drink idea is the same, only the tapas are of an International flair and you get to choose them from a printed menu. Makes sense, the owner is(I believe) from the UK and his wife from Brazil. This is where all the expats and English speakers in the area flock to, I assume. Everybody at the bar was either speaking English, though a few Spanish groups rolled into Poe as well, or sunburnt. Or both. The gf and I got 2 drinks each and shared the 4 free tapas – Garbanzo Salad, Spicy Chicken Liver w/Cilantro, Brazilian Black Bean & Pork Stew(my fav), and Chicken in Thai Sauce. The Liver was the surprise of the night. I wouldn’t have ordered it, but the owner suggested it and said it often proves the doubters wrong. He was right. The spicy sauce was particularly nice because Spanish food isn’t typically spicy and we were missing that heat. All the dishes were solid, the service was great, definitely a spot to check out when you want to stray from the norm in Granada. But, to be honest, we quickly went back to Spanish tapas right after this and even picked up A TON of Jamon Iberico on our way home that night.

If you’re an American in Granada and you’re yearning for some food that isn’t ham covered in olive oil, go to Poe immediately. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the food in Granada and Spanish food in general, but those people cling to their traditions like no other. After a few weeks I started to wonder if there was anything resembling decent non-Spanish food anywhere in Granada. The Mexican food was awful, the Chinese was downright strange, the sushi had HAM in it, for Christ’s sake. But then we found Poe! The couple who runs the place is pleasant beyond belief. Always down for a recommendation or just a nice conversation. As far as food goes, anything on the menu is great, but my official recommendations are the chickpea salad and the spicy Thai chicken. I dream of these tapas.

Yummy tapas place in Granada! Not a cocktail bar, but have some good drinks like the honey rum and coke(my FAV) and tinto de verano that’s made fresh(not bottled). Each drink comes with a complimentary tapa that you get to choose. The tapa menu is a bit small but everything tastes great. I recommend the Pica Pica if you like spicy, the Thai chicken curry, and the Pork stew. Still gotta try the pork skewer(my friends have told me those are good too). Drinks are all under 4ish euros, and additional tapas are only 1.40 euros. Definitely recommend this place! Ps. I wish the owner didn’t go on vacation so abruptly without notice. Missed this place!

The cheapest and best meal we had in Granada! Located on a relatively quieter street, the bar is tiny and yet cozy. My husband and I were the only two people at the place beside a woman from Washington DC. The concept was pretty simple, order a drink and get free tapas. In this case, however, the owner gives you the food menu and you order anything you want from it with your drink. We did not come across this concept anywhere else. Typically we got free tapas of very small pre-selected Jamon or mixed nuts at other bars. For the full detailed review check out our blog

Excellent tapas and a bit of variety with the beer selection. Each drink gets you a small dish of food, most wasn’t traditionally Spanish, but was delicious. The pork and pineapple, Piri Piri pork dish, and pork with black beans were all well cooked and flavorful. May favorite pork dish was the black beans. The Thai chicken was terrific, the spicy chicken livers were packed with cilantro and we’re quiet good. These were some of the few dishes were a rein Spain that had any heat to them. The chickpea salad was a simple well made dish. German beer was as good as I would expect. We saw a bunch of locals drinking house red wine with lemon soda mixed in. We tried that, and it wasn’t bad at all. The bar owner was very friendly. He chatted us up a bit before it became too busy. It took us a few tries to get into this bar, as it gets jammed very quickly. If you want a seat, I’d recommend getting there just as it opens.

A must in Granada! A husband and wife own this hidden gem and run the entire thing. Matt does the bar tending and his wife does all the cooking. Very inexpensive drinks and with each drink you get to choose from one of about ten homemade tapas… each is amazing and unlike any other tapas you’ll find in spain. You can have several drinks and leave entirely full on the tapas for appx $ 15 usd. Great deal, authentic experience!

ELMEJOR!!! Cuando estaba estudiando en Granada, esto era mi favorito! This place is a MUSTGO in Granada. Great drinks, great tapas. This was my top spot when I was studying abroad — the owner and his wife are from England and told me the story of how they fell in love with Granada, out of all cities in Spain. If only I had the capability to move back… sigh.

As with traditional tapas bars, your food comes complimentary with each drink you order, though it is possible to order extra dishes sans alcohol if you’re feeling your limits and want to slow down on the booze a little. Unlike some spots, it’s possible to have more than enough to both eat And drink without somehow feeling you’ve poured the entire contents of your wallet into your meal [not that I never do that, but cheap and good can be hard to find.] The place is run by a nice couple from out of town, as it were, so if you need a spot to chat with someone in English he’ll cheerfully oblige while serving, though she stayed managing the kitchen while we were there– I understand this is standard. The drinks area reasonably simple– not a spot for complicated nonsense but the tinto verano was all I needed to keep me happy. The food is ridiculously delicious, though the menu is brief enough that I believe we had everything on it at least once. The feijoada brasiliera in particular was worth ordering more than once, it’s an utterly fabulous bean and pork stew that I’d love to get my hands on a recipe for. I did ask, but was informed that if he told me, his wife’d kill him, so I’m out of luck.

One of the best tappas bars in Granada! Been living close to the poe for nearly a year and went there many many times. A good evening starts at poe. Or shall I say an evening that starts at poe will become hilarious? Perfect cosmopolitian tappas: south-east asian, brasilian, spanish etc. All served by very nice peoplethe owner is a former psychologist that started something new and by the way very great in Granada. A must. Thumps up!
