I hate it when I forget to review a place. But equally love it when my review of a place changes after learning something new. My first memory of this place is a good one! I came here after me and a dear friend of mine were completely tanked after drinking silly amounts of alcohol. We met some cool people in a random bar who we followed to the El Gallinero café arte. It was a karaōke night. Needless to say i’m not a fan of karaōke. I hate it when drunk people sing some awful music giving pain to my ears similar to nails and a chalkboard to must folks. But me and my friend decided it was our night to sing like pop idol. I pleaded that«when i’m 65» by the Beatles is the best song I can sing. And why not, i’ve been practising this song in the shower and in my car for years. I know it well… and can sing it well. So we enter the stage(more like wobble on stage), and the music begins. And we did nothing. we watched the words on the screen drill down… and nothing comes out of our voices. Finally at the last verse, something comes out of our throat. And it wasn’t good. I’m pretty sure if you tie a noose around a roosters neck, the sound would be similar to what we produced for this song. And the oddest thing happened next… the crowd cheer and yelled bravo. it was the strangest thing. I’m pretty sure the crowd was drunker than we were. No way in england we would recieve anything but food thrown at us. But now i return often as a language exchange is held in this café every Tuesday night. And what do they have here that gives it 5 stars??? Blended iced coffee! yea, that’s right. Iced coffee in spain. A big glass of coffee, a heap of milk and ice blended in a blender and sold to me. Nothing can make me happier! 5 stars for the great memory and the iced coffee!
