Stopped by Magerit after a long day of walking around Madrid and finally resting in Plaza Mayor. It was one of the first places we stumbled upon and the host succeeded in luring us in. The place was pretty busy, so we figured it has to be good. Right? Ehh.
The service was lame. They were very slow and not friendly at all. The food matched the service. We ordered nachos with salsa and guacamole for appetizer… the guac was super bland. We also had calamari and paella. Please explain to me why and how you can mess up paella in Madrid? C’mon.
They’re only getting 2 stars from me because they were in a prime location and we were able to people watch and get super drunk off pitchers of sangria.

Terrible pricing and food was not worth it. 2.90 for a small bottle of water… 13 for paella that seemed like it was made from a packet. Portions look much bigger in pictures than in person. Typical tourist trap but worse.

I walked in here because I saw a sign for their churros and chocolate which was 3.5 euros and I thought it was a good deal. We walked in the place was clean we ordered 2 portions of churros and chocolate they served us right away but the service was dry and not friendly at all even thought we speak the language. Anyways once I tasted the chocolate i really didn’t care it was so good even my sister who doesn’t like hot chocolate was fighting my mom for it. The churros were good and perfect ratio for the chocolate. It fulfill my craving and it didn’t disappoint

Just a plain old tourist trap.
You know my coffee was alright, and I had it for the sake of having coffee, but the churros let me tell you, with a cup of chocolate it costed 4 € and they brought us 4 tiny churros and a tiny sugar pack to put on them! That is ridiculous. The food wasn’t good enough to be that expensive.
The tables were all wobbly, with dirty on top, and the general atmosphere was kind of depressing.
Not really recommended. I wish we’d gone to a better restaurant. Nicole F is right when she says that it’s only real redeeming factor is the view (and nice staff I have to add).

The only redeeming thing about this place is the location, which is within Plaza Mayor. Sangria tastes like cranberry juice and the 10 € hummus plate is the worst I’ve ever had. If you want to sit here for the plaza experience, have a beer only.

Wie standen also da und hatten die Qual der Wahl … wir versuchten Besucherzahlen abzuschätzen … und haben uns dann letztendlich einfach zu einer gutbesuchten Tapas-​Bar gesetzt.
FEHLER! Vorher Karte anschauen, wäre besser gewesen. Denn es gab keine Englisch Karte (von Deutsch ganz zu schweigen), es gab zwar einen Kellner der etwas Englisch sprach, aber erstens war der ziemlich beschäftigt und zweitens brachte uns das bei derartigen Spezialitäten nicht so viel, weil wir einige Vokabeln auch auf Englisch wahrscheinlich nicht gekannt hätten.
Der Kellner hat uns freundlicherweise davon abgehalten viel zu viel zu bestellen, weil wir die Mengenangaben nicht verstanden haben. Ich bekam dann bei zwei Gerichten eins, was ich nicht bestellt hatte: einen großen dicken Kartoffel-​Ei-​Pfannkuchen (wie heißt das noch?) der innen noch roh und eklich war … iehh!
Letzendlich sind wir satt geworden, aber teuer wars!
Um uns herum haben übrigens alle Paella gegessen und an einem Tisch habebn sich drei Frauen eine einzige Paella geteilt, vielleicht ist hier ja dieses Gericht zu empfehlen, aber auch hier gibts es zig verschiedene Variationen von Paella.
Sucht lieber ein Restaurant mit englischer Speisekarte oder mehr Bildern. Man zahlt die Lage mit und das nicht wenig.

Eine der unzähligen Tapabars am Plaza Mayor. Wir waren im November dort und konnten auch Abends noch schön draußen sitzen und das muntere treiben am Platz verfolgen.
Vermutlich schenken sich die ganzen Tapasbars hier nicht viel, sind natürlich total auf Touristen ausgerichtet. Hier aber ohne deutsche oder englische Karte und dies macht es etwas schwieriger.
Deswegen habe ich auch nur bekannte Dinge probiert wie Calamares und Patatas bravas. Die Preise sind auf Plaza Mayor Niveau, Calamares 11Euro, patas bravas 5,20.
Insgesamt war es ok, denke aber alle anderen Retauraunts am Platz sind ähnlich.
