We took the advice from our Lonely Planet book to try this restaurant. We each ordered a small plate, my husband had a glass of Riojas and I had bottled water. The food was unremarkable. The service was ok. When the bill finally came, we were charged for a full plate of foie gras, when I had a small plate. And charged for bread that was brought to the table, but that we did not order. When this was brought to the waiter’s attention, he just shrugged and said I ordered the full size. Not a good experience and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many great tapas bars nearby!

Understated and casual environment. Hands down, one of the best culinary experiences of my life, after thousands of restaurants from all around the world. Course 1: Squid with eggplant –Interesting combination and tasty Course 2: Foie Gras pâté –So smooth and well balanced Course 3: Braised shoulder of pig served like a burger –Spices and flavors are very nice, and the flat bread is fresh baked and crispy. Course 4: tapioca pudding with fresh strawberries and chocolate cookies –So tasty Eat here. Trust their recommendations. One of the best: ever.

Only go here if you are a true foodie — out on lookout for super inventive tapas and entrees. We didn’t love a lot of what we ordered — and our 14 year old son hated most of it — but the food is certainly special and thoughtfully prepared — in a lovely setting with great service. Just know what kind of meal you are getting into before you go.

Thanks Lolo! When in Madrid on a free night with my two lovely colleagues Lulu and Cyrielle, Lolo(the Unilocal CM in Madrid) recommended we went to this restaurant for dinner. What we asked him for precisely was«a restaurant kind of gastro-chic spanish food where we won’t eat tapas and won’t have to share our plates». Yup, the typical picky French girls, but hey, we’re not sharing! On that note… we kind of missed it! You have to know we speak very(very) little Spanish but we did try our best to communicate with the adorable waiter and we managed quite well, except for one thing: we did have to share our plates! We thought we had ordered one starter to share then a dish for each of us, but we actually got the 4 plates one after the other, which caused us to share everything(well, almost as Cyrielle didn’t eat fish or seafood which caused a very funny explanation of all of the menu by our waiter!) The food is really good. It is «tapas-y» but you can eat full«racions» or ½ or tapas, so you can chose the amount you want to eat. The full rations are around 12 euros and we loved all of them, from mini-hamburgers to calamares with squid ink or burrata and artichokes with ham. With a bottle of good red wine, the evening was perfect. We had a lot of fun and even ended up helping our host setting up the Unilocal appfor businesses on his phone… in FrenSpanish! Big up to the desserts too: we… well, shared… one brownie and one tapioca dessert and both were very nice! The only downside would be to me that the food was a bit too salty for my taste and also that the toilets weren’t so great, which is very important, I think… :s Other than that, we loved it! A very good address indeed, Lolo! We paid around 33 euros each with 4 dishes + 2 desserts + wine + coffee. A bit higher than usually in Madrid, but worth it!

One of my favourite restaurants in Spain. This place serves tapas but with incredible creativity and quality. Their wine list is to die for as well. Make sure you make a reservation. This review was written in 2008. I lived just round the corner and ate there every chance I got

It would be impossible for me to chose a favorite dining experience in Madrid because I ate so well, but this was the most memorable. Unlike a lot of the more festive and lively tapas places in the area this is a more sedate, intimate dining experience. It’s excellent if you want a quiet dinner alone or a romantic dining experience. Not really a place for large groups or kids. For those who struggle with Spanish the staff here speaks English. The wines are fabulous, the crème bulee was impressive(and I’m not big on desserts) and it should be noted, like much of Spain, this place doesn’t have much for vegetarians. Besides the beautiful atmosphere and wonderful staff what made this memorable ? (Coo don’t read anymore) The duckburger. Simply one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. Ground duck mixed with sweet apples and caramelized onions had a wonderful contrast of sweet and savory. The duck was fatty enough to be juicy but not greasy or slime-y tasting. When asked about Madrid this is the first place that I mention. Go !!

¡¡Muchos besos, primo!( )
