This hotel is perfect for those who want a comfortable no frills experience. It is conveniently located near numerous good cafes and restaurants and about a 20 minute walk from the Prado. The rooms are a good size, nicely decorated in a modern urban style with all the amenities one could need. They are very quiet — despite being 3 floors above a busy street I couldn’t hear a thing from outside when I was going to sleep. There is a welcoming lounge on the 1st floor with a helpful concierge, a coffee machine(1 euro each but they gave us free coffee on our arrival day when we arrived a bit early and our rooms weren’t quite ready yet), long tables and comfy lounge chairs. I highly recommend this place. We had no evidence that this was the red light district. And the wifi was a bit slow but perfectly fine.

A great hotel for tourists on a budget. We did research it beforehand, but somehow missed that this hotel is near the red light district so we were a little surprised to see working girls so near to the hotel. Even then, we we felt we felt very safe and the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly so really no complaints here. Excellent in terms of convenience with the hotel right near the Gran Via metro stop.

If you don’t mind staying in the red light district then this place is ideal! When me and the wife booked this place we had no idea it was in the red light district, we booked it because of location, quality and the excellent price($ 80 Canadian per night). When we arrived on Calle Montera we were a little perplexed by the amount of hookers on the street and standing right outside the hotel! That being said the area and hotel is extremely safe. Inside it is what you expect from a budget hotel, however, the rooms are a decent size and extremely clean. Service was actually extremely good, I was sorry to read another review saying the service sucked. The workers we encountered were all very nice and accommodating. If you have a room facing the street I must warn you it can get extremely noisy at night until dawn, but hopefully you’ll be out partying until then anyway and wont care! The hotel is located right beside gran via, and the gran via subway station so getting around is easy(although you can definitely walk to every neighbourhood and plaza in the area). Also to the north of gran via is the Chueca neighbourhood which is a series of tiny side streets which hosts a lot of great little restaurants and bars(best mojitos in spain). It’s a great not so touristy neighbourhood with lots of locals frequenting the establishments. Definitely recommended, great price, cleanliness and location.

This is definitely one of the most reasonable priced hotels to stay in for tourists coming to Madrid. For those of you who are not into youth hostels or not much of a backpacker(like me), or don’t want to burn a hole in your wallet to stay in overpriced chain hotels, this is a great alternative for you. The room my sister and I got wasn’t as cramped as we thought any European hotel would be. It was clean, with clean sheets and towels. It was located at a shopping area and great restaurants. Wi-Fi wasn’t the best unfortunately. The elevator they had was like the size of a telephone booth and it wasn’t fast either so might as well take the stairs and our room was on the 4th floor. At least we got a very good workout. :)

I booked this hotel because of the positive reviews. I’m not sure if I just happened to get the worst room in the hotel and the worst person at reception, but I had a terrible experience. First of all, the room was the most overpriced room for the size I have ever stayed in. There was space in the room for the bed and that’s about it. My wife and I had to close our bags and put them away in order to stand up. Seriously. Checking us in the extremely rude and unbelievably arrogant desk clerk smirked and said our room was«bad.» I asked him why that was when i had booked the room weeks in advance. He told me that it made no difference. I told him that the room did not match the description or the photos on the hotel website and he told me(I can’t believe it, but this is what he said) «It’s like McDonalds. When you go to McDonalds you don’t expect the hamburger to look like it does in the pictures.» I asked to speak to the manager and he told me the manager was not available and there was no way to reach him. WIFI is also terrible. The worst room ever and among the worst service ever. That was my experience at the Praktik Metropol. The hotel is centrally located, but you can find better options for the money and certainly a hotel with better service.

Absolutely amazing location right off Gran Via metro stop. If you’re trying to find the place, it’s right next door to McDonald’s. Check-in was on the 2nd floor — there are 2 tiny elevators that you can take. Our room, 314, was tiny, but I guess that’s cuz I booked the cheapest room. Even thought it was small, it was enough for the 2 of us thanks to the amazing hooks all around the room. Bathroom was modern, clean. Sheets were clean. Bed was comfortable. Only complaints are the crappy WiFi when everybody else is on and the lack of hot water during popular showering times. The staff speaks enough English to be able to answer most questions.
