Taberna El Buo

We came here with a friend who was visiting from NY. It was her first restaurant in Spain, so I wanted something veeery Spanish and I think this bar/​restaurant was perfect. It was actually recommended by a Spanish colleague.
We sat at a table. They gave each of us a free tapas as we sat and chose what to order (Or were they the tapas that came with each drink? I can’t remember). We ordered calamares al andaluz, croquetas variados and huevos rotos and some wine. They were all good, but my favorite was huevos rotos because there was a generous amount of jamon iberico on top! I wish I could’ve taken pictures! (My phone is broken) All three of us left very full.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, traditional decoration. Good food, nice selection of wine
Cons: The portion is big, but the price is accordingly. Good for a big group but if you’re a small group and want to try a variety of dishes, maybe you’re better-​off going to place with smaller portion and cheaper price for each dish.

Huevos rotos con jamón ibérico… el jamón NO es ibérico (serrano, justito), la patata medio cocida tampoco ayudaba.
Me quedé con ganas de probar una tortilla rellena, porque no creo que vuelva.
Servicio correcto, calidad /​precio correcto también.

The hostess lured us in and we thought everyone would be friendly like her. There was only one waiter and he seemed stressed and was not friendly. He didn’t refill our water and I had someone else at the bar give us water. The food was okay it did not look like the pictures the lady showed us on her IPad when she convinced us.

I’ve visited Madrid and after walking throw the streets in that area, my cousin and I was luck to El Buo!
The place is amazing! The food is unbelievable great! Tapas like Fish and Brie Cheese must be tried! The best party is there! Getting around 19:00 is the best thing you can do. I got there around 22:00 and it was still great!

This is a hard review to do as there is many cool parts to this place.
Some friendly staff.
They give you free tapas with every drink.
Cool décor inside.
Good bustling atmosphere.
Myself and my wife went here 4 years ago on our honeymoon and had a great dinner that then brought us back when we were in Madrid last month.
Sadly on this occasion things did not go to plan. We ordered our food and waited 90 mins and it never arrived.
We chased them up more than once and got no where. Barely an apology and we watched other meals come out and ours never arrived.
Pretty gutted by the let down and we eventually walked out.
Very poor and therefore my first one star.

Cuando vamos por Chueca y las tripas empiezan a rugir, es difícil resistirse a entrar en El Búo. En este local encontrarás unas tortillas deliciosas (¡y originales!), vino de calidad, cerveza Cruzcampo, buenos precios y excelente servicio (¿acaso puedes pedir más?).
En este bar ya nos conocen de todas las veces que mi chico y yo hemos ido, pero desde la primera visita nos trataron fenomenal. Si dudas sobre a qué lugar de Chueca ir a almorzar o a cenar, decídete por El Buo y pide una de sus tortillas. Nuestra recomendación es la de queso de cabra con cebolla caramelizada. ¡Tan rica que alguna vez la hemos comprado para llevárnosla a casa!

Excellent food at affordable prices. Relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff. Their «menu del dia» was very reasonable and very delicious. All accompanied by a very friendly staff.

Este local acaba de cambiar de dueños y ha sido totalmente remodelado. Antes estaba bien, pero ahora está muy arreglado. Las butacas y las mesitas bajas favorecen un ambiente más íntimo. Está genial para tomarse una copita entre semana por la tarde-​noche.
Aunque está en pleno Chueca no es exclusivo del «ambiente», y hay gente de todo tipo. Así me gusta más, ya que a veces me siento «extraña» en algunos de los locales de este barrio, principalmente de ambiente gay.
Los nuevos dueños son muy agradables, y están muy ilusionados con la reciente apertura de este local.
