This little food shop is located on the lower ground floor of the Larios Centro Comercial shopping centre I fell in love as soon as I saw the whole legs of the famous Iberico ham made from acorn-fed pigs hanging up. As they say, when in Rome,… Sadly, my Spanish isn’t up to much and certainly not enough a to sustain a conversation about all the different of hams and cheeses on offer. So, I resorted to looking at the meat on the legs and at the prices to gauge quality I eventually settled on a basic Iberico ham and a more expensive Jabugo ham. Now, slicing ham off a whole leg does take practice and I’ve seen some novices really struggle. So, it was nice to see an expert at work as she expertly shaved off 100g of each ham The prices were much lower than in London but that’s to be expected for Iberico ham in Spain, I suppose Both hams were meaty and dense with flavour but I preferred the more expensive Jabugo, which was moister and tempered some of the saltiness with the more subtle umami flavour
