The food and service were excellent. The décor was contemporary and the restaurant was nicely furnished with a nice ambiance. The manager couldn’t do enough and even get the chef to make a dish for the children which wasn’t even on the menu. I had the king prawn red curry and I can genuinely say it was one of the best Thai seafood dishes I have eaten outside Thailand. The restaurant wasn’t the cheapest I have eaten in, but it was excellent.

Its hard to fault Lan Sang. Superb food, good service and smart décor. There’s a vast range of dishes from Laos and Thailand with authentic ingredients some of which are grown specially in the neighbouring hills to cut down on the travel miles importing them from Asia. We started with a fantastic plate of starters — many of the usual thai style bits and pieces including fantastic vegetable tempura, satay, slow roasted pork etc each with a matching dip. We then shared alot of dishes between our large party — I mean alot. Standards like green curry were executed superbly and some I’d not have chosen myself — like barbecued king prawns with a warm asaparagus salad were great too. The owners have also put alot of time into working out which local wines go with Asian food. I’m not sure I had the patience to work out the system(described in a seperate leaflet on the tables) but this attention to detail was a hallmark of our visit. Like the elephant which is the restaurant’s logo this is one not to forget.
