We visited at Torres wineyard in August when we were on holiday in Barcelona. Nice tourist tour(cheap 15 €/Person including a glass of cava) and possibility to buy their products, of course. I bought some quality ones.

Not my kind of shindig. My favorite part was probably the soil profiles in the lobby; they were up-close and personal, which the tour and massive wine company is not. I suppose when you’ve got a lot of people visiting from countries with a lot of different languages, it’s hard to accomodate crowds and give them a sense of personalization and intimacy that you would expect from other local wineries… One of their trolleys were out, so we had to wait in the museum(interesting and varied, I must admit – I especially enjoyed the Greek/Roman amphoras and Torres wine labels). The«sensory tunnel» with the birds chirping and the musk being sprayed into the atmosphere was captivating, but that was probably the height of the tour. The rest of it was a trolley tour, guided by a recorded voice(press the # with your appropriate language!) where you couldn’t get a close look of what they were talking about(and you’re craning your neck to get a better look so you can’t even concentrate on what they’re saying). Thankfully our trolley driver/guide fielded questions at the end of the tour; it’s a shame because he was such a wealth of information, and I wish he’d given us his personal account of the winery. For such a large establishment, they did a fair job of giving you a «taste of» that can appeal to all kinds of people from all over the world.(And literally, a taste… the tasting we got was only 2 wines! One white, one red! Really pathetic, and in a disappointingly overcrowded tasting room). But if you’re looking for a more in-depth, intimate look at Spanish wine-making, give your $‘s to a smaller establishment.(With Spain’s economy like it is these days, the little guys probably need it more, anyway!)

Thanks to Liz H for helping me find the right location to post this review. This winery offers a complete sensory experience. They have tours in open cars that looks like trolley’s. Each seat has a plug in for your headset and auditory guide in your language of choice. This is while you are riding through every area in order of the steps they take to create their wine. The trolley drops you off right by their sensory room. Everything becomes heightened. You smell grapes, feel foggy mist, you hear nature sounds while you see vines growing on screens. They saved the best for last, their tasting room. I loved their cabs and enjoyed them with crackers. Pretty cool place but a little touristy.

Excellent winery! I took a train from Barcelona to get here. They offer an English speaking guide to give you a tour around the winery. We went around the winery in a trolley… the smells, sights, everything was awesome. The tasting included cheese and crackers. All the wine we tried was delicious.
