Located in a canny city of S’agaro, right at the bay of Sant Pol. This seafood restaurant with a beautiful terrace and splendid view serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Nice place to taste the local dishes cooked with the freshest ingredients. A bit too pricey though looked to me. For instance I’ll be indicating some prices: oysters, but 6 Euros a piece — pretty stiff. They have different mussels cooked various ways and all that Spanish typical delightful shellfish like navajas, cigalas, espardenas, canaillas etc. Navajas are fabulous! Lobster — they’ve got it almost any style: in salad, grilled, steamed, in rice(paella) etc. Jamon Iberico de bellota –very good, but 24 euros for small portion. On another hand, it has never been much cheaper. Tuna tartar with avocado — 21 euros. Salmon ceviche, salads, gazpacho, etc. We love local flavor and chose palamos shrimps carpaccio and octopus carpaccio. Sosnos — local tiny little fishes, lightly breaded — very regional and original, delicious of course. Paellas and fideuas are made for two people minimum. We took rice with lobster. Fish options: monkfish, hake, tuna… If you prefer meat: try steak tartar. But this one you normally get in France for 16 – 20 Euros, here it is 25. Rib eye steak, or chicken. Among local favorites are seafood croquettes and grilled squid. Palamos prawns taste sensational, but the price of them is overwhelming too. They offer seafood platter, but that’s for those, who is a bit lazy to choose or for large companies to my mind. Cheesecake for dessert, crema catalana, or gazpacho of pineapple, Alaska of their own style, ice creams and sorbets. Cheesecake was terrific. The wine list is quite impressive, especially considering the fact that it’s a beach restaurant. Especially honorable is selection of Spanish wines, including both: local, in particular of Emporda and Catalonia, and from all over Spain, almost all significant regions are represented and with interesting patterns. But to some superficial public from a nearby luxurious hotel who know only a few big names, there are also Château Margaux, Batard-Montrachet etc … All was not bad, except for the prices are ski-high for this type of place. It’s not a Michelin star restaurant and they don’t have anything that unusual and extraordinary that you won’t find in some other place around presenting seafood cuisine. Just to pay for the view and extravagant hint in the food decoration. Too much for me. But customers go there, mostly from 5 star hotel next door and from vocational rentals. Locals prefer other spots.

Perhaps the best restaurant on the Costa Brava. Forget about the nitrogen foam crap on the 3 star guides. This is the real deal, fresh products, perfectly done. What more can you want.

Excellent! Service was great, waiters were great, food was to die for. We found the staff very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Everything was done at our own pace, not rushed, the menus were extensive and the wine choice was tremendous. Aside from the food, the view from the terrace on the beach front, was truly beautiful. Can’t wait to return!

Came back to Taverna on Monday before US Thanksgiving Holiday, bringing my wife and another couple. It was the only high-end restaurant on the beach that was open at this time of year and we had a phenomenal meal with impeccable service. I love this place and can’t wait to get back!
