Tenerife is not a place where you would expect to find culture if you are English — a great deal of the Spanish owned island is awash with multicultural cuisine and aped English seaside resorts — so to find authentic local food we persuaded(got drunk) locals and bribed them to spill a little known secret. This restaurant goes beyond words. The waiters are living menus as they often cook the food at the back of the restaurant and there is a meat fridge available for you to peruse to choose your cut and animal. Seafood so fresh it recently jumped onto your plate, partaking in the cooking process, and a fine selection of local wines flavoured by volcanic processes. The staff will recommend wines based on your food choices or what is good that day too. The interior may pass as Spanish designed wood panneling or the stuffed Bovine heads may appear a little out of place, but this is truly a Tenerifian place with authentic and extremely tasty plates of good food, at a very reasonable price — they don’t overcharge tourists. Highly recommended is a translation device or Spanish speaker as only one staff member speaks Enligh lingo — a sure sign of local food for local people.
