Uno de los restaurantes más famosos de Sanlúcar, siempre he escuchado hablar muy bien de él y éste fin de semana me atreví a probarlo. Iba con expectativas altas y salí completamente satisfecho. Especialistas en pescados y porqué no, en ensaladillas. La ensaladilla de gamba es la mejor que he probado en cualquier bar y su carrillada la verdad que también está muy buena. El servicio muy amable, rápido y encima a buen precio(aunque menciono que, pedí una bolsita pequeña de picos y me cobraron 1 € extra… Un poco rata) pero aún así muy satisfecho. Y por último si te gusta los bares tipo tasca para jugar al dominó tiene en la parte de atrás un bar del estilo que buscas!

Buen sitio de tapeo y de comida, sobre todo pescados y carne. Me quedé sorprendido por su amplia carta de carne y pescados entre las que seleccioné el clásico plato de chocos y también alguno más de carne como el típico filete/pechuga. Su carta de postres también es sorpresiva. Recomendable en temporada de Primavera-Verano. Acudir a las primeras horas del mediodía para evitar colas, consta de varias«naves» donde el servicio es efectivo y presto. Cierra la semana de romería del Rocío.

Went here last week with friends visiting — they had been stationed(as I was) at the Rota Naval Station and apparently spent a lot of time in Sanlucar. It was a very doable walk from downtown Sanlucar as I didn’t want to take a chance trying to find parking on narrow spanish streets. To be sure of my location when I was nearer to the spot where I thought it was, I asked a man on the street and he was very kind, even going to a bar across the street to be sure. The Bar Restaurante El Colorao is located in the same place it’s been for decades though my new friends remembers a lot of wet smaller streets. Disappear for 40+ years and things change! Tables along the walls so we found a spot and sat. A few people at almost 2pm(spanish lunch hour) waiting for their take-out. Lots of bullfight posters, along with framed fotos of the place, and other views/scenes. TV over our heads in opposite corner had CanalSur on for the ongoing Semana Santa processions. We eventually ordered a variety plate that with whole fried squid, chocos, fish of various types, and fried whole shrimp. It was delicious and served quickly considering all the people here. We later ordered a salad served with tomatoes and boiled eggs, and a local type of tuna, along with great Sanlucar boiled shrimp which was also great. My friends drank a beer and manzanilla wine which I missed so much being in the states and it’s difficult to find. As we ate, the place literally filled up. I would say there were close to 40 people in all sitting at tables or ordering take-out, and not even 30mins after we entered(what great timing!). All in all, a great experience and a great new place for me to return to when I’m back in the future! Bar Restaurante El Colorao is listed in some Sanlucar tourist maps. About a 20min slow walk from downtown but worth it if you love seafood like we do! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of great food and not a touristy place to relax and eat. Saw a lot of gorgeous patios on our walk there and stopped often to admire and snap pixs. Based on living and eating out in San Francisco, I would say the total price would have been 3x what was paid in Sanlucar!
