El Petit de Can Carlus

This place is a total tourist trap. There are a couple of menus, one of which is the daily menu and the other is the standard menu. We tried to order from the standard, but we were told we could not. Then we tried to order 3 appetizers, and they told us we can’t because we have a fixed menu and we can only get 2. We did not know we are signing up for a fixed menu. We told them to charge us extra, and they still would not do it. My meal was the house specialty «Cim i Tomba», which was average at best. I would compare it to chicken and dumplings except it is fish and potatoes. Fairly bland dish lacking much taste. The dessert we ordered was profiteroles and I was floored when I realized that the cream inside came out of a spray can. Stay away.

Me gusto mucho este restaurante. Estuve a principios de septiembre y muchisimos restaurantes cierran la cocina mas bien pronto pero en Can Carlus la mantienen mas tiempo abierta, lo que va genial para el estilo de los españoles, que muchas veces vamos a cenar a las 10.30 de la noche pasada.
El servicio estuvo muy acertado y fue muy agradable, la comida perfecta.

Preparan muy bien el Cim i Tomba típico de Tossa de Mar y el Suquet de peix. Tienen un menú por 17 € muy completo. Preguntar a los camareros por la historia del Cim i Tomba

From the numerous and indifferent restaurants in Tossa De Mar, the El Petit and Can Carlus differ a little. Both restaurants are owned by the same chef.
The chef cares for the customers, waiters and employees are a bit older and experienced than elsewhere, setting is nice, and the menu is standard as everywhere, but with a few Catalan specialities and differences.
The menu my wife and I tasted was the normal touristic menu for roughly 14EUR, with a good main course. I forgot what I had, but it was cooked to the point, well spiced, nice. Dessert was excellent crème catalane. No mistakes here.
The reason to go here is good food and excellent service with reasonable price. Its hard to decide where to go to in Tossa De Mar, we were quite happy with El Petit and Can Carlus.
