Our stay at the Hotel Parador Vielha was a 5 Star experience all around. Gayle and I loved the Room, the Service, the Lower Lounge, the Views, and Dinner at the Restaurant. Our only quibbles are that the Spa is overpriced(except for maybe the package massage/spa deal for couples) and there’s a bit of traffic noise from the road leading up the hill to the Tunnel. Our big regret is not being able to stay here longer and take advantage of all the hiking opportunities. As such, we settled for a pleasant stroll to the nearby Village of Casau and back. The Hotel Vielha is a modern granite Parador, with a semicircular salon with huge windows and spectacular views over the Maladeta peaks of the Val d’Aran. Rooms are furnished with traditional carved-wood furniture, comfortable beds, the right amenities, and killer views of Vielha and the surrounding countryside). This was the stunning scenic Mountain Ying to our later Parador de Aiguablava Costa Brava Yang. In hindsight, we should have skipped our next night’s stay in Andorra and hung our here for another day. Then there was the Restaurant, which was easily our best Dinner during our Spain Vacation. We feasted on all local Cuisine including: — A Vermouth-based Apéritif — A full bottle of an excellent Spanish Red. — Aranaise Style Soup — Catalan Style Cannelloni with Mushrooms Bechamel and Cream — Sirloin Iberian Pork with Cheese Style Sauce — Grilled Duck Magret with Bittersweet Style Sauce And for Dessert: Crema Catalana — Orange dessert Chocolate Tarte Café Solo for me and Con Leche for Gayle And like me, aren’t you hungry right now?
