Came here to seek cover from the rain(that never really came) — had great Czech beers in the outdoor space, filled with good vibes. Friendly service, good music. This place was a very welcome«getaway» from all the crowded touristy places downtown. Cool to see the 12th century basement, under the bar. Neat experience.

Great beer bar especially if you are into Microbrews. In the land of lager, they had awesome IPAs, stouts, and other locally brewed Czech beer that you shouldn’t miss. Their hospitality was as good as the beer and their knowledge of Czech brewing impeccable. This is a must to see for anyone visiting Prague that loves beer. Ask about the history of their building. It’s as interesting as the beer.

This place was one of the highlights of our trip to Praha. We came here one night, but they had already closed. So we came back early on our last night, but they were again closed for a private gallery event(there is a gallery space downstairs that is pretty cool). We told the guy at the bar that we were leaving and couldn’t come back the following day and he told us if we don’t mind him being interrupted, he could help us. We were SOOHAPPY and EXCITED! We stayed for over 2 hours, tried 10+ different AMAZING beers, learned A LOT about Praha, beer, how to taste beer(breathe out of your nose to taste extra), culture, and soo much more! It was awesome. Beer is everywhere in Praha, and it’s super cheap compared to the US, however, it is pretty hard to find their specialty beers. U Kunstatu has done a fantastic job of gathering a great range of quality beers to try. The Bartender and one of the owner’s sons talked to us the whole time, when they weren’t doing their normal job for the gallery event. It was awesome to just hang out, chat, and drink GREATBEER in a cool environment. I think usually the tasting is split amongst more people, as it’s a tasting … but since we were the only ones there, each taste was half a beer! At some point we needed food, and they graciously allowed us to pick up take out to bring into their establishment.(Not sure if they normally would let you do this as I believe they do offer food). We stayed pretty late, and one of the owners popped in towards the end of the night. We chatted with him for a bit, took some pictures and drank a little more. He was super nice as well. You can get beer at any restaurant in Praha, but you cannot get the amazing range of quality beer U Kunstatu has. This isn’t a pricy for what you get, but it is more expensive than ordering a normal beer at a restaurant in Praha because these are specialty beers! Definitely recommend this if you have an evening in Praha and love beer! If/when we ever go back to Praha, will definitely visit this place again!

My wife and I just visited last night and I had to write a review as this was easily the best evening we had in Prague. We had actually tried going the night before but got there after they had closed. We saw they were doing a beer tasting event so we decided to try again the next day. When we got there they were actually holding a private event but the bartender(Petr) after hearing that we would be leaving Prague the next day before they opened again welcomed us to stay and do the beer tasting as long as we didn’t mind that he might have to help with the private event that was taking place. We definitely didn’t mind and were super appreciative that he was so accommodating. We ended up spending the entire evening learning about the history of beer and a bunch of other random and interesting things about Prague as we chatted with Petr and another young man behind the bar(Tomas) who ended up being the son of one of the co-owners of the bar. They were both super friendly and full of knowledge about beer, Prague, and the Czech Republic. Petr also offered some very practical easy and effective beer tasting tips like exhaling through your nose after tasting to get all the flavor(maybe something obvious other people know but my wife and I both were surprised at how such a simple technique brought out so many other flavors from each beer we tried) We ended up drinking 9 great beers all of which were delicious and different than the standard fare from all the other bars we had been to(Pilsner Urquell, Kozel, Gambrinus). Our favorite was from a small brewery that apparently has only been around for a few years and is run solely by a father and son team: Pivovar Matuska. Later in the night a man walked in like he owned the place and grabbed a beer from the fridge and went behind the bar and popped the top off with a kitchen blade and walked back out. He ended up being the other co-owner and he proceeded to finish off several more bottles in the same fashion throughout the night. Near the end of the night he introduced himself to us as Marek and talked a little about what he and the other co owner were trying to do with their bar — serving more unique and craft beers from micro breweries all over the Czech Republic which meant having to charge slightly higher prices vs other bars in the area that only served the main 3 beers mentioned above. Still their prices are only«expensive» relative to dirt cheap Prague beer prices and are still actually super cheap/reasonable relative to prices in the U.S. and especially compared to NYC and when you account for their amazing and unique beer selection and stellar service this place is easily the best bar we visited in Prague. For the experience my wife and I received that night I’d actually say it’s one of the best bars we have been to in Europe period. We really hope they do well and will definitely be back the next time we visit Prague. Thanks again Marek, Petr and Tomas!

I did the beer tasting here as well as visited during the day for the underground tour. It’s really cool, the building is billed as a palace sometimes, but its really more of a house. But it’s the oldest preserved house in Prague and was one owned by a guy who would later become a king. Marak did the tasting and as mentioned before, he was super knowledgeable and funny and engaging. Knew a lot about both Bohemian/Bavarian beer and even American craft movements. They also provide a little meat and cheese plate that was a great compliment to the 12 beers you sample. If you’re a beer fan, do the tour!

Came here with friends for the beer tasting, this place is amazing! Marak is so knowledgeable! Great facts about beer and history. He’s funny and very entertaining. As avid beer drinker it was very interesting! Great beer and great laughs!
