Great Czech cuisine! The café is a blend of visitors and locals, with a variety of food/drink/dessert choices. The chef brings the food out to your table; great service and atmosphere for a Friday morning when we went!

I really do wish that Unilocal had an option for half stars. Sometimes three stars just seems too mean, but four is more generous than I’d actually like to be. Café Louvre was on my list of cafes to try and I was nearby on a Sunday, so I checked it off. I ordered the hot chocolate, as always. It was a decent price, nicely chocolatey, and came with more whipped cream than I needed, which is rarely a problem. So the drink was good. But for such an old and esteemed café, the ambience was just kind of bland. There are so many cafes to try in Prague that I won’t make an effort to come back to this one. But I also wouldn’t object to coming back in the company of someone else who wanted to check it off their list.

My mate brought me here telling me they offer great breakfast options and I admit this is great. First, the settings are nice situated on a large floor, the space between tables is good which offers a relaxed atmosphere very well lit by the large and numerous windows. The servers are well dressed, very professional and smart but the overall atmosphere is casual and you can get in dressed casually. Secondly, the menu has a large offering with a multitude of choices from milkshakes to meat dishes, they got you covered for all kinds of cravings you might have throughout the day. I personally ordered a pistachio milkshake and a club sandwich(I know not very original) and they both tasted very good with real pistachio and perfectly cooked bread, bacon and eggs for the sandwiches. I don’t know much yet about the other places in Prague but this one is definitely worth it, and also is very well located.

One of my favorite places in Prague that is the perfect balance between old and new, fancy and well-priced and welcomes everyone from celebrities who come to get interviewed by reporters to groups of students hanging out and having a beer. The seasonal special offers are always exciting and I have never had a bad soup at Louvre. The salmon tartar is delicious and the cheapest I have seen in Prague and the staff always go the extra mile.

Café Louvre gives you two options after you walk up a flight of stairs from its entrance; restaurant or café? Since my companion and I were hungry, we decided to check out what there is to offer for dinner. The service was excellent; it was a fine-dining environment and our waiter was very professional. The restaurant was almost full and there was only two waiters I believe, so at some point it was hard to get the waiter’s attention. Regardless, I think he did a wonderful job. The ambiance of the place was modern-classic(if this makes any sense). The walls displayed many artsy posters, and the restaurant was dimmed. Each table had a nice center piece with candlelight; a great place for a romantic dinner or just to chat up with friends over a bottle of wine. To start things off, I ordered two appetizers for the table, Salmon Tar Tar and the Duck Liver Pâté. I also ordered a Chivas Regal Scotch blend while my friend ordered a bottle of red wine. We were given a complimentary bread basket with three different types of bread. Not too long after our appetizers were placed on the table. Both of the starters were cold dishes and I really enjoyed them with the cute plating and fun tastes. For our main course I ordered the Lamb Sirloin and my friend got the Spatzle with onions, mushrooms, and bacon. My lamb sirloin came with potato gnocchi, and bacon wrapped asparagus. It was simple delectable. Yummmmmm :) photos here:

If you want to start your day on the right foot, Café Louvre is the place to go. The service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is so warm and inviting! As for the food… the best meal we’ve had in Prague by far! They offer a wide selection of delicious traditional Czech dishes such as the goulash and pork loin, as well as many other options. We couldn’t believe the price for the quality of the experience. For dessert try the Louvre cheesecake with peaches and homemade whipped cream, it is so delicious!!!

Food *** Service **** Cost performance ** Agree with what people have been saying… The food was nothing to write home about. A bit pricey also cover charge for bread! 15 czk per person and the bread wasnt that good so I only had one bite lol However, the service was great … I went in for breakfast 10 mins after they opened so the place was not full yet maybe that is why the service i received was good for czech standard

I totally understand the appeal of sitting in the café that Kafka and Einstein used to frequent in Prague… but not at the expense of good coffee and atmosphere. The pink interior is nice but a little underwhelming if you have seen similar design. Unfortunately at the time I visited the non smoking section was full so I was in the smoking section which as a non smoker, was pretty smokey. The service was also very slow during the afternoon. It took me almost 45 minutes to get my cup of coffee. All the while enjoying smoky fumes of course(which is my fault as I chose to sit in the smoking section). But… I had a better coffee to be honest from a vendor in the christmas markets in the square that day than the one from Café Louvre.

To be honest, this restaurant/café was one of my least favorite places to eat in Prague. I think it was because I went to so many other restaurants in Prague that had better food. I came here for the novelty and for its longstanding history of having famous people dine here. When I came, the non-smoking section was completely taken up, so I had to sit in the smoking section, which wasn’t too bad. The fruit salad I ordered was good but it wasn’t the freshest fruit I had. I had the pancakes with a raspberry sauce, which was… good. I don’t remember it being amazing. It wasn’t amazingly fluffy, and I kind of remember the pancakes being a little bitter, which I thought was weird. The service was also alright. It took a while for me to get someone’s attention though. What I liked about this place was that they have slips of paper and a pencil at every table so you could sketch or write down your thoughts while you’re there! It’s pretty awesome :) Other than that, if you’re looking for a breakfast place with solid food, this probably isn’t the place to come. But if you’re interested in the historical aspect of this place, I suppose it’s worth a visit. It’s also a little pricier than the other restaurants I’ve been to too. Just a few things to keep in mind!

Ah, Café Louvre, where Franz Kafka used to come with his friends and Albert Einstein would visit during his stay in Prague. All this hype had me expecting overly fancy food at outrageous prices, but much to my surprise, everything was decently priced! There was still that feeling of luxury though, which I greatly appreciated. My friends and I came in for dessert one evening, and the first thing I noticed was the lack of space for larger groups. Of course, there are individual tables that can be pushed together, but we couldn’t even find two tables that were next to each other because it was so crowded. We ended up just splitting up because otherwise we would have waited hours to be seated. At my table, four of us ordered three desserts to share: the Warm Apple Strudel, Fragrant Raspberry Cake, and Country Cheesecake with Peaches. All of them were so decadent, so flavorful, but not overly sweet, and I didn’t want it to end. My favorite, though, was the Raspberry Cake. It had the perfect balance of tart and sweet, and it was indeed very fragrant. I also ordered a cappuccino; nothing special, but it was a great complement to the desserts. Had I stayed in Prague for one more night, I would have come back for a true meal. The only downfall I saw with this place was that it was difficult to catch the attention of a waiter or waitress, but that’s only because they’re so incredibly busy. Besides that, staff was friendly and service(when we got it) was great. Two very happy thumbs up!

If you ever feel alone, go to Louvre. The place is always busy and its huge! The food is mnamy, simple and cheap. Considering also the location — just 5 min from the National Theatre. Good for breakfast and lunch or just an afternoon tea.

Great food, good service but waiter cheated us of 100CZK in change. Myself and mom are visiting Prague for 1 week, staying in new town area. This is the first time we have been cheated of change. We had the pumpkin soup, trout, salmon appetizer, goat cheese salad and hot chocolate for dessert. Sat in the cute outside area. Itemized bill was a bit confusing, but the total was clear. I gave a 2000 bill to pay for an ~700 bill and received change all in 200 bills but didn’t realize I was missing change until the next day. Unfortunately w had given waiter an extra tip for the good service. Too bad I cannot come here again

Conveniently the menu is posted in several languages in the foyer. The café is up 2 flights of stairs and on arrival a sign asks you to choose the section where you would like to sit. Toilets are in front. To your immediate left is a roof terrace, then left and in front is a more formal dining area; and to the right are the most popular café style tables. You enter slightly left of centre into a long section about 30m long and 3−4m wide depending on where you choose. The tables are superior to your average café and the service is more noticeably so. The area has a colonial look. I ordered the Spagler pizza with mushrooms and bacon. It was a little ordinary. Then I ordered the cinammon pancake with sour cream; it was delicious and perfectly presented. I also ordered the Algerian coffee that came with a generous amount of cream on top and some tonic water in a small glass. It was a treat and the presentation was flawless. Service was world class with the waiter being attentive yet professional. Apart from the main course it was a knockout.

Lovely coffee close to the old town. I had to go there because of the reviews on Unilocal and people did not exaggerated about it. It is in the 2nd floor of the building and you will feel like you are in France. The decoration is super cute and the staff is super nice. The menu is huge and the cakes… Jesus. So beautiful you cannot eat them haha I had a cappuccino and cheesecake. It was superb

THEYACCEPTAMERICANEXPRESS. Their website doesn’t say so, but restaurants that accept my preferred credit card are rare enough that this is worth mentioning. I was here twice in one day, once for breakfast and the second time for an early dinner. Breakfast was a cheese croissant, which came with lettuce and cold cheese inside, and tomatoes and cucumber on the side. It was good, but I personally would have preferred it toasted or at least with melted cheese, but that’s just me! Please, please, PLEASE do yourself a favor and order the Hot Chocolate *Louvre* not the one that normally comes with whipped cream. I don’t know how I can ever go back to instant hot chocolate after I’ve had the kind made with smooth, REAL, creamy, dreamy, melted chocolate. If chocolate soup sounds the least bit appetizing to you, this drink will not disappoint. Dinner was one of their seasonal specials, a delicious onion soup made with white wine that was more consommé(clear broth) than creamy, but had wonderfully balanced flavors. The promised cheese baguettes were just two tiny pieces on the side, so if you like something to dip in your soup like I do, I would recommend also getting a bread basket. Unfortunately they charge extra for the bread(12czk) and butter(7czk) and even whipped cream(10czk)! The waiter I had for dinner was quick to push these«extras» on me without explaining the extra costs. Even so, the food is so delicious and cheap(for an American tourist) and well worth the price. I could have went without the dessert I got, which was the 3 cake sampler. Chocolate cake — I believe this is the sacher cake that is made with apricot jam. It was a little sweet for my liking. Raspberry cake — this was probabaly the best for me out of the three. The jam on top overwhelmed the equally delicious cake underneath but once I scraped some of it off, the two parts of the cake complemented each other beautifully. Louvre Country Cheesecake — was my least favorite. The crust was okay, but the cheese part was bland and I wasn’t a fan of the peaches inside.

This place really surprised me. I have passed it many times taking the tram and did not even realize it was this café. When I entered it honestly feels like a large french brasserie with large arcs inside, a pink and white décor and other decorations from the early 1900’s, perfectly fitting though. Our server was friendly, spoke czech and a bit of english. She brought our drinks right away, service was great here the entire time. I had a café late which was okay, but no brown sugar. For a place like this??? Come on brown sugar for coffee should be a staple here. The highlight of our trip here was the Waffle with cream and strawberries that I ordered. It was a huge waffle on my plate, baked to perfection, with a huge pile of cream and fruit on the opposite side of my plate. This ended up being very smart because the waffle never got soggy and I had just enough berries and cream for the whole thing. The waffle was crispy and it really was a perfect portion. Overall my experience here was great. Service was nice, food was excellent and atmosphere was also excellent. I will be back here for more waffles and to try other delicious looking things on their menu!
