I came here to see Hujo. I def did not spend a long enough time here to develop an overall opinion about the café/bar/service. BUT the basement-like venue area was sufficient. There was a great bar fully stocked with cheap beer on tap and bottles of club-mate(always a + non-alcoholic alternative). The crowd was live and friendly. I can see how this is an up and coming«hot-spot.»

I thoroughly enjoyed this establishment on my recent visit to Prague. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe. Fairly good beer sortiment, with a few local ones on tap. Well worth a pit stop if you happen to be around Krymská street.

What to say about this place? It’s not exactly the crème de la crème of Prague cafés, but you don’t come here for an urban experience like at café — café. You visit this place if you want to hang out with local as well as international hipsters and then wake up with a hangover the size of Antarctica. Have way too many Almond Cigar cocktails, and your wish might come true faster than you think. Yes, this is the sort of place where you can loudly discuss Thomas Aquinas and not be called a nerd. You might get punched in the face by a staunch supporter of Richard Dawkins, though. You’ve been warned. This place is full of interesting people, too cool for school hipsters and miscellaneous folk I have categorized as «enablers». If you are a recovering alcoholic, avoid this place. If you want to have a good time, come right in and join the freak show.

Rapidly becoming one of the most interesting bars/music venues in Prague, Café v Lese offers cheap beer and a great intimate setting for concerts. This place is not necessarily for those looking for a «nice» and clean locale, but rather something more reminiscent of a dive bar in the states where punk bands and experimental musicians play in the concrete basement area. Service is always fine, and there’s a good international mix of clientele. It’s almost always packed upstairs on thursday, friday and saturday nights, so find out when a show is happening in the basement and check it out. Otherwise come early with a few friends and get a table upstairs.
