Maravilhoso café, ambiente muito bonito, bom atendimento e garçons atenciosos. Comida boa e excelentes sanduíches e doces. Vale muito a pena.

A step back in time and a cubism gem, the interior together with the vibe and 30’s music playing in the background is the thing to experience and enjoy while there. Take a coffee n read some paper printed newspapers;) Food is nothing special, but they have a good salmon tartare tho! The servers attitude is very professional but sometimes annoying while paying since they watch you when looking for money. Smth that doesn’t really correspond with their kind of high end behavior.;D anyways, try it, there are not much other places like this in the world.

A unique place and design that was worth seeing, but left us wishing we had left just after looking inside. Most tables were smokers and so clouds almost hung over our heads, but we were tired and hoped to have a bite before retiring. The food was fine, but beyond what other cafes have served. One irk was that the soda sizes had been reduced in a quick scribble in the menu, yet the prices remained unchanged. Having eaten at a half-dozen places or more in Prague, no restaurant or café charged more for less than Grand Café Orient. Finally, I understand that the wait staff can take a different pace that in America, but having to flag them down for every step in the process was tiring, especially to request utensils so that my wife and I could share the dessert. So when we finally had the bill and learned that they do not accept credit, we worked to gather the cash to pay and then as the waiter watched, he tapped the bill and said, «The tip is not included.»

A unique space with special design in a beautiful building is definitely worth seeing. The staff were very attentive and I could not complain about the customer service at all. The only thing is the noise level is certainly up there. It did make it a bit hard to hear, even though the café wasn’t that full…

Really nice café with really friendly staff. Nice location in the old town, a great place to sit outside and have a drink. Menu was a bit eclectic but the sandwiches did look good. I enjoyed my mushroom pancake, but the chicken was a tad dry.

Prague has some glorious breakfasts. I got the American breakfast with the Ethiopia espresso. It didn’t «wow» me like some of the others I’ve had while living here, but it was still very good for its cost. The atmosphere is business-like — definitely not a mom and pop shop. I’ll be back for more some time soon!

Read about this place and wanted to give it a try. Stumbled upon it by accident so of course I had to try it out. First impression was I loved the area, the cubism décor inside, the big windows letting in all the sunshine. Staff was nice, quick and accommodating. Only thing about this place was that they don’t accept card. Make sure you bring cash or you’re in for a not nice surprise. My friend and I both got lattes here, they were average I would say. I saw a bunch of food, it all did look good but for the same price you can walk a few minutes away and get the same crepes, breakfast plates and sandwiches for less. To me this place was more about going for the location, décor and ambiance then for the quality Of the stuff they had on offer. If that’s your reasoning to go the I suggest this place by far for the experience.

My favourite place for coffee — this place reminds me of old times … Time stops there and suddenly you feel like being back in the middle of last century … They serve decent breakfasts, old style coffees … Great deserts. It is magical place in the vey heart of Prague.

The theme of the restaurant is a nod to cubism(see the history on the back of the menu) and even the travel app that directed me here emphasized the design aspect over the food. While the elegant architecture was indeed impressive, the dining experience was disappointing and expensive for what you get out of it. The hot chocolate was honestly the best part and redeemed the place for even 2 stars. It came with a small cookie that was easy to bite into and very moist. For an entrée, I went with the spinach and Parmesan pancake which was boiled, unseasoned spinach wrapped in a pancake with a few strips of Parmesan cheese laid on top. I also ordered a croissant for dessert to go with my hot chocolate. The sprinkle of powdered sugar on top could not disguise the fact that it was not fresh, and possibly beginning to stale. Unrelated to the food, the menu was written in an oriental type font, though the menu is clearly that of a European café. I even read the history of the place and fail to see what connection this café had to anything Oriental except for the fact they share a name! They also do NOT accept credit cards of any kind, which is annoying if you’re going to order more than a few dishes because I personally don’t enjoy carrying too much cash.

A sweet and historical spot just off the main square in Old Town Prague… it really cannot be beat. Just a few meters past the Astronomical Clock, the Black Madonna(a cubist architectural highlight) hosts this sweet café on the first floor. The room is well adorned with spacious seating and tables, plus plenty of options on the terrace that surrounds the building. A well curated menu of drinks, light bites, brunch, pastry, salads, and sandwiches makes this an ideal stopping point for any time of day. Three of us got milkshakes(banana, raspberry, and pistachio) and all of us were thrilled. The salads were fresh and delicious, and our dining friends had sandwiches that were equally enjoyable. I plan to bring many friends and family here when we take them to Prague in the not too distant future!

A very cool café with interesting Art Deco interior that has, in my opinion, not much to do with Orient as the name suggests. It is a spacious café that serves nice coffee and small meals. I really like to come here in the summer when it is possible to sit on the balcony and watch people passing by. It is also a great place for a coffee or wine with friends. Since it’s location is very central, it is often visited by tourists and can get a bit busy but otherwise the atmosphere is very relaxed. The service is sometimes a bit slow and the waiters are not very friendly but in general the level is ok.

We went to the Grand Café on a Monday night at 8pm. We were literally the only people in the entire place. After a long wait, the waiter came by to take our drink order. He was extremely rude to us and we decided to leave at that point. I see now why the restaurant was empty.

After a rainy day of shopping in Prague(great deals to be had on leather goods!) my daughter and I were very happy to meet my husband at this café. It is on the second floor, we had a window booth, and looked down at the square. it was so relaxing and refreshing for an afternoon break, and the ginger tea I had was delicious. Check out the cubist piano and stool. i looked at it when the pianist took a short break.

This place looks quite special and is worth visiting at least once to feel the atmosphere of the first half of the 20th century. It is located next to the museum of Czech cubism and properly decorated responding to the spirit of those days. They have a nice choice of drinks including variations of coffee, usual offer of tea and hot milk. The pancakes and desserts are pretty tasty, too. The place is of average size and usually full, so be ready to wait for a table(especially with a bigger group). The waiters aren’t really smiley, the service can be slow and sometimes they unfortunately look like they are making you a favour by actually serving you. However, some years ago in Czech Republic such an attitude to the customers was much more common than now, so don’t let it get you into a bad mood — in general, this café isn’t bad.

I felt like I stepped back into 1910’s at this café. We stopped by this place along our walking tour route to grab something to drink and sweets to munch on. I had the chocolate truffle cake and a lemonade. They are very good. The lemonade was a bit more sour that I’m used to, but it provided a nice contrast to the cake. Yum!

Whenever I’m in Prague, I make it a point to go here. At least once. Housed above the beautiful Cubist Museum in the famed ‘House of the Black Madonna’, this landmark café has a very interesting history that is fortunately printed on their menu in full. In short, it was designed by the architect from the ground up(even the light fixtures) and while sitting in it’s classic wooden booths or on it’s private balcony, you can almost imagine it as it once was. Nostalgia aside, this café is absolutely beautiful and a fine example of Cubism. There are almost always seats free, thanks to it being a bit hard to find for the average tourist, but if you want one of the luxurious benches or private-only-for-2-tables outside, you might need to wait. The food is very good, although recommended for breakfast or lighter eaters. A wide selection of pancakes(from sweet to meat) are available, as well as assorted sandwiches and breakfast spreads. The Turkish Coffee is absolutely delicious. No matter what you order, and if you at all ever enjoyed sweets, make sure you order the Chocolat Fondant, which must be Czech for ‘most delicious thing ever’. A slice of the richest chocolate heaven covered in Marzipan with a side of whipped cream and stewed plums. It’s worth it to come in for a coffee and this alone.
