Four stars for the service and food. Minus one star because the lights were way way way too bright! First, there are smoking and non-smoking sections of this restaurant. The smoking section is in the front, so you have to make your way through that section to get to the non-smoking section but, I have to say, it wasn’t too smokey when we blazed through at about 5pm after an all-day walking tour of Prague. Second, menus are in English and Czech, so no problems there if you don’t speak or can’t read Czech. Also, the servers speak English. Awesome. Third, this place is super easy to get to via the green line, last stop, Dejvicka. Then walk halfway around the roundabout(toward and then past the KFC) and look for the yellow cow out front. Couldn’t be easier to find. I ordered the goulash and it was a giant portion served with five thick bread dumplings. I couldn’t finish it all even though I had not eaten all day and was starving by the time we arrived. Beer was cold but I also could not finish my beer because I was so full from the goulash!

Went here for dinner and I must say what a surprise. The staff was very friendly, not always speaking a lot of english but joking with us nonetheless. We were feeling hungry and adventerous so we ordered a czech meat meal with dumplings, pumpkin soup, mushroom gnocchi and steak fries. Pumpkin soup was the best I have ever had in my life. I also have to say these steak fries were so good, they were like US quality and taste, not sure where they got them, but delicious. Mushroom gnocchi could be passed on — not the best combination for sauce and pasta, but if you love italian food like I do then just stay away from it. The czech food was typical, okay meat, sauce and dumplings but I wouldn’t come back for that. The ambiance here is nice, simple, hardwood floors, black and white colors everywhere. Tables are spaced just far enough apart to feel like you are not on top of the next table. Although super easy to start an international conversation here as there are many random expats or czechs wandering in at any given time. Only real downfall here is smoking is allowed inside. Should be illegal but sadly not here. If you come at a good time it will be almost empty and this won’t affect your meal. However come for a late dinner and everyone including your neighbor will be lighting up. Something to consider.

Great food and usually excellent service! Friendly to non-czech speakers. The wings are excellent and plentiful

Having spent the previous week at yoga retreat with no alcohol, no meat, and no dairy, I needed a serious dose of beer and Czech food; this place was my first stop in Prague and it really delivered! The fried cheese was excellent(I tried the same dish at a couple other Prague restaurants and it was never quite as good as at Kulaťák) and the selection of meat(sausage, duck, and pork) and dumplings in the Bohemian platter was wonderful. I had no idea that Czech dumplings were so varied and delicious! The platter even provided vegetables in the way of savory red and white cabbage! The luscious food was only outdone by the excellent Pilsner Urquell beer on tap. My favourite was the dark(Tmavé), but all three kinds I sampled were fabulous. Sitting on the patio, I mostly glimpsed the polished copper fixtures inside through the window, but when I passed through the main restaurant on the way to the WC, it felt cozy and comfortable. Nice ambience that got busier as the night progressed. Service was attentive(especially by European standards!) and the servers switched between Czech and basic German, French, and English with ease.

We have been there twice, everything we ordered are very tasty, and the portion is very big. It is good local food and the price is not very expensive. We like goulash the best.

Sehr nettes, typisch tschechisches Restaurant.

It’s been over a year since I’ve been in Prague and I miss it terribly. I studied abroad at Czech Technical University for a semester and this was always our go-to place for dinner. It is by far the best food in the area, if not one of the best restaurants in Prague. The service was always fast and the servers were very friendly. I can’t remember exactly everything that we tried there but we probably had the entire menu by the time I left Prague. The one dish I will always remember is a pasta dish that had duck in it. I think the menu switches from time to time because I had this dish once and went back to have it again a few weeks later and it was no longer offered. Made me so sad! Bottom line. This isn’t a touristy part of Prague but if you’re in the area, you absolutely have to try this place.
