Stumbled into this place our first day in Prague… and wasn’t disappointed. We ordered some pork filled dumplings with sauerkraut and its was tasty. Dumplings were super dense and Rich, and the meals are definitely made for sharing. I was so surprised how these flavors mixed so well, The Czech sure know how to eat! Had a banana beer for the first time which was delicious. All in all the food is good and the prices are great. You’re in a country where water and wine sells for more then beer so be prepared to be shit faced while visiting out here. Bottoms up!

Really fun place to grab a beer sampler! We were a group of mid 20 year old Americans visiting Prague and really enjoyed the atmosphere! Food was decent but nothing fantastic, very meat and bread dumpling-centric(like most of Prague). I would certainly come back for the beer though.

The banana beer was delicious! I actually wished I wasn’t too full from lunch so that I could try another one of their beers. My lunch, the Pork in beer gravy with bacon dumplings was not good at all. There were two thin slices of very dry pork drenched in a very salty gravy. Bacon dumplings meant very dense and dry balls of dough with a few chunks of meat that tasted more like ham that bacon.

I think the service here is above average for czech standard and it is very popular so expect a wait! The management of the queue was pretty bad tho! I suggested getting the beer samples and all the standard czech bavarian food! Huge portion and the food was delicious

Very close to the Novotel and Ibis. First meal after arriving hotel and front desk reco this place. 5 star beer selection. I had the Coffee beer and it had just a hint of coffee in a dark beer. The grilled venison in cranberry gravy was a 2.5 star. Meat was overcooked. Dumpling filled half the plate and seemed to be just steamed dough. Sauce was tasty but not enough to savage the dish. Also ordered a side of spinach and it was a purée with garlic and maybe cream or butter. This was my first meal and I didn’t leave impressed with the Czech cuisine. I guess I’m not a fan of a the local diet-hunk of meat in gravy, potatoes and plain dough, and cabbage.

We were starving after a long day of walking to the castle in the chilly weather. As this is close to the Sheraton where we stayed we were looking for something close. Luckily this place is only a five minute walk away. When we arrived we saw that it was primarily Czech locals in the restaurant and that it was full — both great signs. We were seated next to a huge group of locals chugging beer — it was quite hilarious hearing their yells and cheers get progressively louder. We ordered the potato dumplings and the venison ‘Hunter Roll’ as well as a tall mixed(dark and light) beer. Holy shit the beer is good. It’s like a mix of a Guinness and pils(which is probably what it was) that goes down ridiculously easily, with or without food. Most of the food was amazing and hearty as well — the fact that there weren’t too many tourists was probably a testament to its authenticity. All in all, the bill came out to approximately 19 euros for two people for drinks and food, way cheaper and tastier than anything you’ll find in Old Town. Highly recommended for anyone looking to go off the beaten path!

Dark unfiltered & unpasteurized Czech lager made in house at Pivovarský Dům really hit the spot. Fine classic(ok, read«heavy») cuisine was very good, and less than 100 Ck for a fine goulash & steamed dumpling entrée at lunch. English-language menus and fluent waitress made me feel welcome. I didn’t explore the banana, cherry, coffee or nettle beers. Call me a classicist, stuck to that fine dark lager. Mmm. Breathe free, there’s no smoking in this brew-pub-style Restaurace, but practice your conversation skills, there’s no wifi to distract you either. Notably larger than their place in north Prague; that one is called Pivovarský Klub, and I give the edge on food quality to Klub. If you’re a real glutton you can choose«lux» to upgrade any entrée from the standard 100g portion of animal protein to more lol.

The best česnečka I had in the entire Czech Republic on a cold December night! In addition great micro brew beer too. In addition we had svíčková with regular white dumplings and svíčková with 3 kinds of other dumplings which were white dumplings, potato dumplings, and bacon dumplings. Wait. Bacon Dumplings? GTFOH! Those bacon dumplings I still dream about! I only found them in one other restaurant in the Czech republic and they were ok. By the way, the dumplings are for sopping up all of the yummy sauce made from the beef drippings and the veggies cooked in the pan. By this point I was done drinking Urquell, Staropramen, Krušovice, Urquell Tank, Bernard, and Gambrinus, so it was nice to have another lager and an ale. If you are in Prague, you need to jump on the tram and find this place!

Ugh. It physically pains me that this place has 3.5 stars. It’s definitely not a 5-star establishment, but it’s probably the only place in Prague that I’ve gone back to more than once because it’s great comfort food, delicious beer(read: delicious), at super reasonable prices. Sure, the servers are a little gruff, but the atmosphere is cool(old-timey, yet brew-pubby), so get the roast pork and the beer sampler, and be sure to steal a few coasters on your way out! this was our first meal in Prague. don’t be afraid because they do have an English menu and our server was really nice and helpful. he even told us about a minibrewery festival happening the next day, which we went to and had a great time! anyway, I got the dumplings with sauerkraut and smoked meat and my friend got the goulash. just so you know, bohemian dumplings are more like bread so if you’re wanting a more«traditional» dumpling, go potato. we also got huge beers(beer is cheaper than water in Prague), light and unfiltered. you can also get dark or mixed beers. my meal alone was probably enough to split between two, so be sure go when you’re really hungry!

Yes, the interior is cool and yes, the beer selection is outstanding. The food even isn’t that bad. I have tried and tried to have a good time at this place — I want to like it. But I don’t. And that is entirely due to that scourge of the Prague restaurant scene — the staff. There are probably ruder servers in town, but not around here. They are simply the worst — trying to overcharge when they hear English being spoken, then doing a terrible job of backpedaling and even outright lying when it turns out I speak Czech; saying that every table is reserved at three o’clock in the afternoon, when there is almost no one there, saying snide things in Czech about the patrons, bringing the wrong items and then arguing about it, plus trying to charge for them. The list goes on and on. Guess what, folks? It isn’t 1993 anymore and, to quote The Who, «we’re not gonna take it.» A shame, really, because the beer is good and the space is fun.

The visual appearance is great and really lovely staff. They spoke English and had English menus. I tried two of the beers but not being a huge beer drinker I wasn’t the greatest fan Ahahahaha overall good and recommend if you enjoy beer.

They have a range of beers, more American-style, brewpubs aren’t a European thing. Their beers are worth a try, although it does leave a stinking feel, but I have drank far too many different beers to know what’s is ok, as most aren’t good to me anymore, unless it’s very good.

Maybe I’m just not a huge believer in Czech food and beer(yet) but the«dumplings» which are just like steamed buns were pretty lackluster. The bohemian garlic soup tho… just what I needed on a cold day! The beer sampler was also so-so. Coffee beer definitely a fave. Must say that all in all prices were pretty good – what, 6 dollars for a sampler of 8 beers? If I’m not a convert of Czech food im at least a convert on their prices!

We went here for lunch. We waited quite a while until the service came and asked us what we wanted for drink. The lunch looked good at first, but they didn’t have half of the food anymore, so it was really hard to choose at the end. Eventually I picked a beer soup and a small piece of salmon with fried potatoes. The beer soup was quite good, but the salmon was very dry. The service wasn’t rude, but looked really angry and didn’t even try for a smile. I know that person could have a bad day, but it’s very unprofessional from him/her. Overall, my first experience at this place is bad and I don’t think I’ll go here again for lunch anymore. Maybe for beers and dinner. However, the other restaurant Pivovarský Klub near Florenc is much better and it’s probably from the same company.

We heard they had tons of different types of beer that comes on a hearty lazy Susan-style sampler, but we did not realize that their sampler wasn’t so much about showcasing different styles of beer, but rather different Jolly Rancher-type flavors. Lime beer? Actually wasn’t *that* bad. Tasted like how my grandma’s house smells when she dilutes pine-sol with well water, but then imagine a hint of 50⁄50 on the back end. Banana beer… it was aight. Doesn’t touch banana bread beer. Coffee beer… No bueno. America has def cornered the market on perfecting this one. Cherry beer… This was one that we all thought was going to be nurst since that is pretty much the grossest flavor out there, but it actually turned out to be the best and the one I was willing to get into an argument over if my friends didn’t let me finish the glass. It tasted like a lighter, Dr Pepper, but better because it has alcohol. We weren’t super hungry but my friends got some some dumplings that were basically deconstructed and I was told pretty bland, while the table got a buncha bread, and we ordered what turned out to be a massive cheese plate that cost basically no money and at least one of the cheeses was definitely head cheese. Even with the grody, rancid smelling/tasting cheese, it was still totally worth it. It’s a nice change of pace from the typical Czech pilsners you’ll see everywhere else, and really nice to have more than ‘light or dark’ as our drinking options. I’d totally go back just for the cherry beer.

I recommend it. They have typical Czech food, nice, tasty dishes. I ordered the Second Best Choice which was meat in gravy and dumplings, I was a bit disappointed because it only had 2 small chunks of meat and the rest was dumplings. My friend ordered some broiled duck, more expensive but the portion was great as well as the taste. Now, I came here for the beer, the sampler seemed pricey, so I just ordered the famous Banana Beer and the Coffee Beer. Banana Beer: Best Banana-like flavored beer I’ve tried, it was so refreshing and had plenty of banana flavor WHILE remaining with natural beer ingredients such as wheat, barley, hops. Coffee Beer: It was good too, but it had added coffee, meaning the coffee flavor was not part of its brewing process, I’m a purist so I don’t like this too much, but it was a good choice instead of coffee. Overall, you should come here, the prices are right and get a banana beer.

Solid stop if you’re looking to sample some local microbrew. This place is very popular, so expect a wait on busy evenings. You may also have to share a table, but hey, new friends! I heard English being spoken in both American and British accents at adjacent tables, so we definitely weren’t the only tourists here. Both the banana beer and cherry beer are delicious and refreshing(with the former being significantly lighter than the latter). You may like those even if you’re not usually a beer person, as my companion was. In terms of food, I enjoyed the hearty sausages and mashed potato that I got for dinner. The price is also right!

What a wonderful place. I came here for a dinner that was hosted by the faculty of the university that I am studying at and it was a wonderful experience. Firstly, the wide variety of drink options was awesome – they had flavored beer. I tried the banana and the coffee beer, which were both extremely delicious. They actually taste like exactly what they’re labeled. The banana beer is a light beer and the banana is a light undertaste while the coffee beer is a dark one but really is a mixture of coffee and beer. Sounds like it might not be appetizing, but it’s really good! As for the food, I ordered the chicken noodle soup which was made from delicious chicken stock and probably some of the better chicken noodle soup I’ve had in awhile. I also ordered the pork fillet with rice in paprika sauce and it was seriously one of my favorite Czech dishes so far. The pork fillet was good, but the paprika sauce mixed with the rice was amazing. For dessert, my friends and I split all the desserts, and I would say that my favorite was definitely the honey cake. The beer jam crêpe was meh, the fruit dumplings had an interesting sauce but were also meh, and the apple strudel was just apple strudel. The honey cake though, was amazing. tldr; I think I had a unique experience, but it was great atmosphere, and just a lot of fun with really, really good food
