The reason we ate at Kandelabr is because it is the only restaurant near the Corinthia hotel where we are staying. Actually both the food an the service were excellent so we went there a second time. Like many places the portions are huge, MUCH bigger than even those in the US. The restaurant serves meaty Czech food, but the salad was also good as are the soups. Prices are cheap, maybe $ 10 a person. The customers are nearly all local but they speak excellent English(as they do in most Prague restaurants).

Two points for the place. And thats it, well a thubs up for the sort of ok breakfast. But the staff was terrible, its almost always empty. The food is quite expensive for such a place and its not that good. Great idea for a pub, but almost like wannabe Potrefena Husa, but lacking the quality :/sad about this, because there is nothing else around.

This restaurant is just across the street from the place where I work so I go there quite often. They have really great burgers. I tasted a lot of burgers in USA, Australia and here in Czech Republic and I could say this is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t choose anything else for dinner. Lunch menu is not so good and quite expensive, I stopped going to this place for lunch and instead I go to V čase restaurant(about 300m from this place). What I don’t like is the service. It depends on who you get as a waiter. Sometimes they are quite nice, but sometimes they’re rude. I remember I was in the middle of eating and they just bring me a bill to pay??? Last time I was there the waiter forgot about my friend’s drinks and was very slow. Also, it’s up in smoke during evenings, so if yo don’t like smoking, go elsewhere.

Not really sure why this place has four stars. The food is barely mediocre, and I wouldn’t go back even if I was starving to death and every other restaurant was closed. What made our experience kind of awful was that we had an incredibly rude(and racist?) waiter. I generally always tip, even when the service isn’t very good, and I was planning to tip for our meal, despite our waiter being unpleasant the whole time. The question was just how much was I going to tip. But when he was hovering over us like an overgrown bat, demanding tip, I felt extremely pressured; I’m not sure what came over me, but I just said no. Kinda shocked myself, but he was so abrasive and demanding that in that moment, I didn’t feel it was necessary to tip him. He gave us another one of his incredulous scoffs and asked why no tip and if I didn’t like the restaurant, still in a very ill-mannered way. I told him the lack of tip was because he was rude, and he went from being unpleasant to downright nasty. He responded with, «No, I am normal. People from your country never tip.» ??? Who the hell is going to tip you if you’re gonna make racist comments? Not sure if he was referring to Asians or Americans. His colleagues were polite, and I would’ve tipped them without question, as I normally do. After the above-described interaction with our waiter, I had wanted to tip the other waiter who actually took our order, but he never came by again. I’m guessing that foreigners don’t get much love here from that particular waiter. Didn’t catch his name, but he’s the one that was wearing glasses. In short: don’t come here.

This restaurant was recommended to me by my hotel. Although it’s away from the center of the city I was able to walk there and found it to be an attractive and friendly local restaurant with a good size menu including local cuisine. The wait staff spoke good english and although it is was busy I was able to be seated without a reservation the 3 times I went there. You have a choice of sitting in the bar or restaurant. The local garlic soup was delicious and the mushroom soup was the best I’ve had anywhere(creamy and slightly sweet). I enjoyed the beef goulash served as a stew with crispy potato pancakes. I also had the caesar and greek salads which were crispy and good. They serve a local red wine by the glass which was tasty and generous sized. The cost was quite reasonable(as you can tell since I went back twice) and it seemed popular with the locals.

Sehr nett, sehr freundlich. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist völlig ok. Was komisch ist, der eine Kellner bittet um 10% «Trinkgeld», der andere nicht. Weiss aber nicht was in diesem Land üblich ist, es scheint aber so zu sein.
