Habe den Apfelstrudel mit einem Freund geteilt und es war sooo lecker, dass wir morgen auch den Mohnstrudel probieren wollen. Wirklich zu empfehlen!

Hubby loves a good apple strudel, so when we learned that there is this little gem of a shop that sells only strudels, we made a point to try it. It’s not anywhere near the touristy old town area. So be prepared to travel if you want to try it. It’s not hard to find though, just takes some time because you have to ride a tram and then walk 5 – 10 min to get there. Now for the strudel. I am no strudel expert and rarely eat them. We got an apple strudel first to eat right there. Hubby really enjoyed it and said it’s not the usual apple strudel he is used to, but still very delicious. We then got three more to go(one of each type). We took it back to our condo to share with others in our travel party(that didn’t make it out to Susta Strudl). The truth is, is it sooooooo good that you HAVE to make a trip out there? I don’t think so. However, it is quite cheap, quite yummy, and if you have the time and want to see some place outside of Old Town AND you like strudel, well, then it’s a no brainer to give it a try.

The Samantha Brown inspired hype is true. Susta Strudel is the real deal. Take the 9 tram(runs by the bottom of Wenceslas Square, among other places) to the Lapanski stop. Paradise is a 5 minute walk. Here is the deal. Susta sells Strudl — 10 inches of pastry surrounding apple, curd or poppy filling. It is simple, ridiculously inexpensive(the KC equivalent of about $ 2.20 per strudel) and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It is open from 8 – 12 and 1 – 5. Here’s my recommendation. Go for a long morning run(7 – 8 miles at least) so you can eat guilt free. Take 4 – 5 friends and buy one of each. You will hate yourself for indulging but absolutely love the strudel.

We trekked here from near the Charles Bridge after hearing about this place from an American travel tv show(Samantha Brown). I make my own strudel with homemade dough at home and this was decent. Finding it is a little tricky but that was part of the adventure! We tried both apple and cheese — not as good as my own but respectable. Both together totaled about $ 4.40. They also offer poppy.
