Be careful with this hotel! I am a US Citizen who happens to have Turkish ancestry, and is a Platinum Elite Member with Marriott. After completing and submitting the necessary paperwork for a proper pre-authorization of my credit card, which happens to be a Marriott Rewards Credit Card here in the United States, I was informed by the hotel staff that their machine stated«Call the Bank.» At that point in time, the only position of the hotel was«provide us with another credit card.» I did call Chase Bank in the US, which runs the Marriott Rewards CC, and the bank indicated that they did not even receive a temporary hold or any other sort of transaction to see whether or not the credit card was accepted or declined. But, the reason why I am giving this hotel a 1-star, and if I could, I would give it ZERO stars, is that, from the Front Office Desk, to the Finance Department, and all the way up to the General Manager, the assumption and tone, as well as even a comment, was made that«it sounds to me like you are trying to not pay your bill.» Those exact words were used against me by a Finance Department staff member. I am astonished that the hotel can make such a horrific accusation of a Platinum Elite Member, and rather than trying to accuse me of not paying my bills when I am proactively trying to provide the hotel with a PRE-authorization form, is absurd! Chase Bank, who insists that there is nothing wrong with my credit card, even offered to fax the hotel authorization for my credit card, which the hotel did not accept. If it was any other card, I can perhaps have a little empathy, but we are talking about a Marriott Rewards Credit Card! And I used the same credit card a few weeks ago in Istanbul, at the AC Macka Hotel, without any problems or concerns(the AC Macka Hotel, by the way, is a fantastic hotel!). To even receive an email from the JW Marriott’s General Manager that says, and I am paraphrasing here, «sorry for all your troubles, but you still have to pay your bills» puts me in a position of being accused of some sort of crime, when, in fact, I was proactively trying to provide a credit card to the hotel. What horrific customer service! And yes, I did get very upset by their false accusations, and I think anyone in the same position would feel the same way if all they are being told is «that’s nice, but pay your bills.» I will absolutely never provide any further business to such a terribly run hotel, and I would highly advise any other traveler to be weary of staying at this hotel! Watch yourself, because they certainly will be happy to accuse you of anything. Please note that I am being very precise in my review to focus only on this particular incident. I am not providing any further comments or details on the remainder of the experience(for example, that the staff are multilingual), because, as I am sure you can imagine, being accused of a potential crime or unethical behavior by hotel staff supersedes anything else.

Although Ankara has been«planned» quite terribly under the current mayor, if you do want to spend some time up in the clouds in a place reminiscent of Top of the Hub at Prudential, Boston or the top floor of the Marriott in Downtown San Francisco, this is the place to be. Friendly staff that are mostly graduates of Bilkent University’s Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. Harun is an excellent server and bar tender.

Great location to up and coming financial district. Two large malls within 5 min walking distance. Safe area. Also walking distance to metro. Taxis are easy to get and hotel staff are friendly. Club on top floor is busy on weekends and they have a great French piano singer. Highly recommended.
