After back and forth it was decided that this years summer vacation would take me to Turkey. More specific: to Alanya. Finding a cheap hotel with okay reviews was fairly easy but the choice ended on Prince Hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Alanya, only a 10 minute walk to the harbor and bazar area. Despite having a room facing the main road(25 meter street) we were not bothered with any noise and the pool area almost felt like a little oasis in the middle of the city. The first impression of the hotel was quite boring. The hotel is a little hidden with nothing special outside. The reception area is the same. It was Impersonal and grey. We were met by a friendly but slightly receptionist. Apparently there were a few apprentices there during our stay. They were though helpful and welcoming. The rest of the staff was what I have learnt to expect of turkish people in the travel industry: a little pushy. One of the important factors of a good vacation in the sun is the pool area. At Prince it was divided in two with a bar/restaurant in the middle. It was a relaxing and nice looking area where we spent big parts of our vacation. Definitely the best part of the hotel! The only thing that put me off was the strict rule that the guests could not bring any food or drinks from outside in to the hotel or pool area. Food I can understand, but even water was banned. I understand they want to make money, but that was a little too much for me! The hotel has two different room types. Apartments and double rooms. We chose the double room with breakfast included. The breakfast was very simple and tasteless. Some white bread, cheese, jam, eggs and a daily«specialty» like sausage, scrambled eggs and a croissant like thing. All in all it was a good stay with sort of what you would expect of a 3 star hotel in Turkey.
