Koco is one of the oldest tavern(in Turkish it is called meyhane where you have meze, fish and alcohol) type of place in Anatolian Part. I feel at home when I go there. The service is very good and the waiters are friendly. I love to go there in summer time because of its view and big patio. All the food is fresh and delicious. If you like liver, I recommend fried leaf liver(called«yaprak ciger» in Turkish)/ I don’t know why but Turkish traditional drink«raki» tastes very special in Koco. The reason might be it is because of the people we share the food, good conversation and joy there.

This seafood restaurant is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul which is characterized as being much more low-key and relaxing. This restaurant was chosen because during Ramadan they still serve alcohol. The typical alcohol consumed during a traditional«Balik» dinner in Turkey is Raki. The food is typical mezze with salad, fried seafood, like calamari, and then fresh fish. We ate so much we opted for dessert instead of the main course. We enjoyed our lava cake with cream. It wasn’t too sweet, so I really loved it. The view is great… harbor sea view with seating on the balcony terrace or on the lower deck. Check out the icecream place down the street if you still have room. Somehow we found room! Parking nearby. Great for large groups.

It has a great view of the sea. Food is very good. The waiter doesn’t speak much English. We have been travel few days in Istanbul. We had local food everyday. This restaurant deliver a good quality of every dish we had. They even prepare blanket for guests who sitting outside. It is good to have a walk along the seaside than eat in this restaurant. This area is just next to a quite resident area, very different feeling from the tourist feeling of old town. strongly recommend people come to this Asian side of Istanbul and visit sea side. Have a dinner here.

Koco has a fantastic and big patio with a beautiful view of the sea, and is at the end of a really pleasant walk through Kadikoy and Moda. Wine is pricey but beer and raki are pretty reasonable. The service at dinnertime heights is abominable — our friends waited 40 minutes for a menu before we showed up* — but their grilled fish and mezze plates(aubergine salad and chard especially) are absolutely perfect. *Note: our friends are Russians.
