I was staying for one evening at the Istanbul Marriott Hotel Asia. Café Ramiz is the closest restaurant in easy walking distance. Ramiz is a popular chain throughout Turkey, serving a variety of kebabs and kofte. The menu is in Turkish, but there are pictures, so it makes it easy to order as a non-Turkish speaker — we accidentally left our phrasebook at the hotel, and managed just fine. The food was great; we had a delicious lentil soup, with well seasoned and tasty kofte(meatballs), served with a lovely big pita bread. Apparently there’s a salad bar as well, though it isn’t part of the picture menu, so I was not sure how to order it! You can check out the menu on their website here: We visited during Ramadan at the iftar(fast-breaking) time, so the place was crowded, but our food still came out quickly and service was efficient. If you’re staying at the Marriott, don’t bother going to the expensive hotel restaurants — come here instead!
