Mado – Sultanahmet

Delicious baklava and dense kulfi-​like ice cream, with a great view of Sultanahmet.

Esta heladería pertenece a una cadena que tiene tiendas repartidas por toda la zona más céntrica y comercial de Estambul.
Este local concretamente está muy cerca de la zona monumental más importante de la ciudad y ocupa todas las plantas de un pequeño edificio incluyendo la azotea.
Es algo más cara que el precio medio de la ciudad pero tiene servicio de camareros y su carta de postres es bastante grande. En mi caso, solo pude probar el helado que me gustó bastante así que si algún día vuelvo a la ciudad, seguro que vuelvo a visitar algunas de sus tiendas.
Además creo que es una alternativa bastante buena a los típicos helados turcos que abundan por la ciudad y con los que hacen todo tipo de malabares antes de ser servidos.

I had breakfast at Mado. A traditional place where Turkish people go. The service was a bit slow, but the food was elaborated.

Most people go to Mado for ice cream… and their ice cream is on point… but we were feeling a bit hungry. I had a delicious pasta dish and I was very satisfied. The service was as good as the food! Try it out if you want a nice meal and a touch of ice cream to finish it off ;)

I was really excited to finally try Mado after passing by it so many times during my visits to Istanbul.
I wasn’t especially impressed by anything we ordered here. The baklava was good, the rice pudding was weak and watery, and the salep was okay. My friend liked her Turkish coffee. The ice cream was probably the best thing here.
It might just be this location that’s weak sauce… maybe because it’s in a really touristy area? I will say that the views from the 3^rd and 4^th floors are pretty nice.

In der Nähe vom hagia Sophia direkt an den Gleisen vom tramvay ist dieses mehrstöckige Café mit einer Terrasse ganz oben.
Die Kellner sind freundlich. Die Preise sind ok.
Man kann vom Frühstück bis Abendessen alles bekommen. Doch die Spezialität ist das Eis.
Wer türkisches Eis mag oder probieren möchte empfehle ich dieses Café, jede Sorte ist sehr lecker.

Got ice cream, 2,5 lira for one scoop. The pistachio was a little too citrus-​y for me, but the almond was pure and satisfying. About 12 flavors to choose from.
